Hi,

I'm all for improvements but improvements that benefit all not just a small minority, so I am not in favour of heated pools, think we could spend our money on better things.

Dont think replacing like for like on the football pitches is a good idea, think we need to come up with what type of surface best suits. Grass = too much maintenance.

Hi All

Heating the pools is a great idea in the long term but will probably come up against too much opposition right now under these current economic conditions. Hopefully when Paramount is up and running and there will be a wider demand for rental properties within the resort we could see a viable/affordable scheme. Too many people are against spending a cent net alone a euro right now.

As for the football pitches being too much maintenance for grass??? I'm not so sure. According to Sport England, annual pitch maintenance costs range from £4,500 to £12,700 per anum dependant on the size of the pitches. That breaks down even if based on the higher amount to 3.62 per year per apartment (3500). We could possibly get a better price than that and also off set the running costs with pitch hiring charges. These are only rough guideline figures that I have researched and could be off either way but I'm really interested to see what Milenium come back with figure wise.

Hi

Not against spending money (I'm a women remember) just dont think at present heated pools are a necessity at present, like you said maybe IF Paramount materialises it would be certainly be worth looking at then.

Yes3.62 per year per apartment sounds fantasic, but I just dont think grass is the answer. Maintenance to cut, maintenace to weed, maintenance to water, maintenace to redraw the lines, goalpost maintenace (repainting), net removal, reseeding but to name a few things required for the upkeep, thats why I query grass? i dont mind paying for improvements i just want value for  the community  before we spend scarce resources ie money.

Hi Ali

I hear ya but for nearly 13 grand if it is that amount, these guys will pull a lot weeds out and and do a lot of mowing.  As long as we aint got to do it  I dont care how much work it is. As long as it gets done well and it gets done cheaply we'll all be happy eh?

Would be interested to understand what improvement you think will benefit ALL?

I think heated pools would actually benefit more people than getting the pitches back in action but if you also take into account that hopefully access to the pitches mean less wear and tear on the Gardens, fences, trees etc and they provide organised entertainment for children at holiday times then I am in full support of the pitches and if they were previously maintained under the previous regime in an excellent condition then it should be straight forward to implement those work routines again at minimal or zero addtional cost.

Going back to pools, i think again this will benefit a significant of people, not a small minority, who now use the resort ie people who want to use them outside the main months of June to September, golfers, residents, renters, owners who dont like to come to spain when the temperatures can be 40+ degrees. It would also be a positive attraction to bring more people as we would all like to see CDA as an all year resort.

I am therefore happy to support the rejuvination of the football pitches to their previously high standards and look forward hopefully in the future to having a dip in the pool in November, in bright sunshine which we had today, and not having to break the ice lol

Cheers

Paul

Problem with long threads is info gets lost or repeated.

But, I'm sure that heating the pools would only benefit April to October. and only affect significant numbers of people once we get to a high level of occupancy. I'm sure I just read that we have 326 official residents, so that number plus a few hundred winter visitors doesnt mean enough people merit heated pools. Actually that probably means the idea of heating just one Naranjos Penthouse pool is merited. Anyway doubt ML would go for any of these idea's though its good to share info and Neil has done alot of useful research.

Even with a bit of expense the footy pitches are better being mainatained and I'm sure that the young woman involved with kid activities at the sports zone plans to make them pay as she seems to have been involved in getting this sorted..

To get back to the football pitches. 18 months ago they were top class. They currently are waste ground with goal posts and a fence around them. They are dangerous, useless and a blot on the resort. It must be great news that the community via Millenium have the chance to repair and maintain them. Even in these tough times, it is vital that owners are prepared to invest relatively small sums for improvements. IRM have given us the opportunity to turn around the future of this area of our resort and we must co-operate and move forward with them.
