moving to spain in 2008

Afternoon all, just been told by our agent that the Land Registry came through about 2 hours ago!!!

Anyone else heard anything yet?

Despite being promised by our agents Medsea yesterday that we would get a phone call within 24 hours, we have heard nothing as yet. Sounds promising though Les, Frances & Costa Calida Expert. Have you got completion dates now???

We would hope to complete pre Easter, if we ever hear from our solicitor or our agents Medsea !!!!!!!!

I would suggest that you, or indeed anyone experiencing problems with Medsea, call their main number and insist on speaking personally to Juan Carlos Martinez.  He is the number 2 in the company, a Spaniard who speaks perfect English with a South African accent (and who incidentally was, the last time I heard, captain of the Spanish cricket team).

Congratulations, you will all be busy over the coming weeks! We are block 2 (bungalow) and have not heard yet. Just wondered if you new if the granted land registry included us. Our completion date should have been March 1st.

just had it confirmed by parador that title deeds are complete for manzana 1    2    3   so now going to book our flights to the sun o deep joy at last our completion date was 1st of march hope this helps you

We have had confirmation from our solicitor that our notary appointment for completion is the 29th March - next Thursday!!!!!!

Dear Pauline & Peter,

As far as we are aware, the Licence of First Occupancy will follow the registration of the properties. It is supposed to be granted by the local authority, wheras the LR has to be dealt with by the Spanish Govt in Madrid.

It will be up to Taray to apply for LFO, and I seem to recall reading on here that they intended to do this phase by phase. In theory until it is granted you cannot apply to the companies concerned for a supply of electricity and water, hence we will all be on 'builders supply' in the meantime. Fortunately, it seems that for San Cayetano Taray are already getting their supplies from the relevant national grids, unlike the poor souls at Balsicas just up the road where they are on water tanks and generators...

There are various other issues apparently concerned with the LFO, and there is a very good link somewhere on this site that  clearly explains all the pros and cons.

Dear Pauline, Peter, Les & Frances

Our agents, Medsea emailed us on Friday & did say in that email that Taray had applied to the town hall for the habitation licence which we understand to be the same as the LFO. We had been told that they could not apply for the LFO until the land registry titles had been granted.

Hopefully the town hall will be quicker than the land registry.

Costa Calida Expert, if you read this perhaps you may be able to shed more light on this as you are more experienced in Spain than the rest of us.

We understand as well as Les & Frances that we are on main supply and NOT a generator supply until the LFO is granted which is good news.

Thanks for that, greatly appreciated.

As I have said we are on hols over Easter, we were going to book a last minute deal elsewhere (say Turkey or somewhere different). 

We are now toying with the  idea of looking for somewhere near San Cayetona or getting a cheap last minute holiday to Alicante and spending the time looking at furniture.  Saving time later!  - Looking forward to the furnishing!

Ps Sue and David I haven't received the other message, should it come to my own e-mail address (that's where I've checked)?
