I thought I would start a new thread, as this could be a bit contentious!!! We have now received an e mail from Atlas which says we WILL be getting lights and lamps because it was in 'our memory of qualities'. Not sure what that means but I just thought it was in the contracts - anyway Atlas say BMS have agreed to supply them, but I am not sure if that is just Atlas clients. So I think everyone who thinks this is in the contract should chase it up to ensure this is honoured.
Best wishes, Linda

That's good news - we're with Atlas too and I asked Jenny of the Moving In department about lights - she said she couldn't see anything on our contract but when I told her exactly where to look, she agreed and said she'd ask the rep to speak to BMS - obviously this has done the trick and they are going to provide 'luces y lamparas'. Hooray.
I suggest everyone else who isn't with Atlas make sure they get BMS to installed theirs too....

Hi all
We have purchased with Parador, I have spoken to Maria in the BMS office today and been advised that we are definately NOT receiving any light fittings. I have got to say it seems slightly unusual that a fully furnished apartment inclusive of items such as curtains, place settings etc included does not have any light fittings !!. When we were shown the show house by the Parador Rep this certainly had light fittings included. I am not certain of the details in the contracts that Atlas customers are referring to, but our contract with BMS is very bland in nature and am not sure if it mentions light fittings. I do have a copy of an e mail from Michelle advising us that light fittings are actually included !!.

We are in the same situation, that we thought lights are included, i do remember being told that lights were but not lamps, I have a glossy leaflet that we were given before signing contract.,which states lights included. Unsure that it actually stipulates in the contract as this is vague about fixtures. We have queried this with BMS via email today and they are saying they are not included; we have emailed our solicitor to get this sorted before completion.

Our contract also says lights, but I am sure we were advised by Parador it was the basic light fittings and bulbs only. Told at the same type that lamps, pictures etc not included. More to buy!!!

HOw interesting. So it seems that there are at least two contracts!! As has already been said, ours lists lights and lamps in the English translation we have, and in the original, it is luces and lampares. So lights (however that may be defined) and lamps definitely in our contract.
Curiouser and Curiouser!!! I wonder if there are any other differences?

We also have been told by BMS that we will receive lights but not lamps. They also assure us that all communal areas will be finished by the time we sign in the end week of April.

Sorry to go back to the vexed question of lights, but we want to be able to get lights put in, if we arrive and they are not included. What have people done, who have they used to fit? And where is the best place to go for light fittings?
Any info would be gratefully received. We are going over to complete on 23rd May if all is well - we had problems with our power of attorney, so it is easier just to go out and do it and BMS have agreed to wait until we can do this.
Latest photos look great, and welcome to all the new people who are finding their way to the sight.
Have a great weekend

Linda,
The interpretation of "lights and lamps" is wildly different depending on who you are - if like us you were expecting fitted lights and some bedside lamps etc. then you'll be disappointed to know the builder meant wires poking out of the wall with a screw-in socket attached to the end so you can screw your own bulbs in ! This was clarified when we were there this week. Some of the wires protrude several feet so need tying in a loop if you want to avoid putting your eye out !
So at first, if you want light you'll need to buy some standard screw-in bulbs (e.g. at a ferreteria).
There are light fittings in the main ferreteria on Mojacar Playa (the aladdins cave for DIY buffs) but on first glance they aren' t very stylish - just functional and/or cheap looking.
There's apparently a good lights store on the road to Antas on the left - according to Ivan and Ann in number 21A.
One of the builders said that he would fit all of our lights (I counted 16 in total) for 120 euros - that's Gregorio - 663 453256 - you'll need to speak in Spanish though (mention that he gave this quote to us in 2A). There's also other people around who fit lights/mossy screens etc. - you could ask Linda and Rob in 31A - we spoke with some English workmen who were fitting their lights.
Hope your completion goes well.
