Just after reading through the Al Kazar thread that is presently quite active put me thinking, what is needed on CdA to make it a fully functioning town centre that will cater for all residents and tourists alike? I know we have bars , restaurants, supermarket furniture shop etc.. But what else is viable AND needed. Maybe 2 or 3 complimentary businesses working out of the one unit, eg nail bar, hairdressers and beauty salon? Launderette as suggested on the other thread? What do you think Condado needs?

a ATM machine was one of the things we had planned along with the laundrette, to put in our business along with one or two more ideas that would have benefitted everyone on Condado, we had all the equipment brought and ready to ship over
But the banks and/or one of the business put a stop to all that, we are still in the process of finding out who and we will let you all know who it is when we do

More choice of good eating and drinking places............
Good open and honest community spirit to all help each other as reading all the threads it doesnt appear to be like that currently, rumours are theres a lot of back stabbing/turf wars going on and its said to be all the english doing it !

What we really need is positive attitudes! I've just had a lovely meal with my family followed by a few beers next door in The Clover. I could have eaten in three if not four places in Condado tonight, all of which I will visit again over the rest of the week. I could have even shopped in the supermarket, bought something to eat along with the freshly baked bread they make, took it home and cooked in my apartment. I could also have walked over to The Condado Club and both eaten and drank there, again somewhere else great on our resort. And finally, if golf takes your fancy I could have enjoyed a few rounds followed by a light bite to eat and a few beers in the Golf Club. So my point is, enjoy and embrace what we already have. Yes we could do with a few more units open in Al Kasar, but heck, we're doing OK and getting better slowly but surely. Look around you and compare if you must what local similar resorts have and decide if this is what you bought into. Personally I like the tranquil, I love the surroundings and locality. We have the best of both. Yes the golf resort needs some TLC, maybe change in management and/or if not investment, but if anything we all need to remain positive and try to send out such messages to prospective readers/buyers as only then can we attract investors, be them more owners, residents or alternatives to IRM. Again, just my opinion and yes I do of course understand the frustrations from folk with ideas like the launderette amongst others are coming from, but in the same breath every new venture is something of a gamble these days whether in the UK or Spain. My hat is off all of those who try and my contribution is to spend in these very establishments each and every time I'm here. Buenos noches Gabe

the question was what else is needed? We already hae bars and resraurants. There is already s thread dealing with the backbighting and leigh_bristols predicament which I have a lot of sympathy for her, but I intended this to be a new conversation and not a rehash of an existing one.

And that's exactly why I posted Ruairi I'm getting so fed up with all the constant moaning on this site, most hearsay and unfounded and/or most of the time from folk whom visit only in summer, some of which I feel got lost on the way to one Costa or another. I am fortunate in the fact that I have been able to come over five or six times since the end of last summer and over this period I have seen the resort come on in leaps and bounds. Yes there's always room for improvement but one has to have a combination of a good idea/creativity, capital, hard work, patience and a bit of good luck. I too am a fellow Irishman, and look forward too to going back home to see my family every couple of months. However, living and working now in the UK for too many years to remember, I sometimes feel some people do not fully understand the overall state of the Spanish economy and how the banks, good and bad have, or at times, have not got control. Spain will be a long time recovering but hopefully will get back on its feet eventually. As you are no doubt aware Ireland too has taken a severe kicking over the years but thankfully now after so long there might be light at the end of our tunnel. Anyway............ hopefully we can finish this conversation over a beer here one day soon. Sláinte Gabe

Trouble is there is a huge difference between want and need. Given the number of actual residences in CDA we are probably at saturation point for the food and drink outlets now. However, many people like to be pampered and an establishment that can combine the gym, personal health and grooming (sauna massage) and cosmetics alongside the quality sports and fashion wear outlet would do well. I have long thought the building at the other end of the campus, the one that used to be the show room for Polaris, would be a perfect location and facility for all of the above and have had conversations with people in business so to speak who could do it. But currently the financial climate and willingness of the banks to help is not there. One exception for me given what I have just said, a good Indian cuisine restaurant would be tremendous but would definitely be resisted by the other eateries as their trade would suffer. JF

Hi Faulky
We certainly need an ATM. I don’t drive & it’s a nightmare when I am on Condado on my own
I agree we do need a good Indian restaurant. Why the other restaurants should object, I have no idea.
Surely it would not make a scrap of difference because if you fancy an Indian meal one night & there isn’t one on Condad you would just drive off to somewhere else as we do...
Surely it is better that the customers stays on Condado than go to Campasol or Mazarron.
Most people who fancy either a curry or a Chinese either have drinks before or after their meal
If these places are not allowed to sell alcohol as many are not here in the UK. Then the Clover or The Condado Club will get the custom & the other restaurants won’t be affected anyway

Hi
Sorry for the people who have spent money to set up a launderette but like Jay I do question if we need one.
We have our own washing machine & I know many other owners do too.
We also have a great property manager who deals with the laundry if we have friends/ family staying
I know of one property manager who “farms the laundry out” to a lady who lives locally who has a garden so washing gets hung out when the weather is suitable.
I hate to sound like a “know it all” but I wonder if they did a survey either on site or via EOS before spending their hard earned money
If they did & it came back positive then I sincerely wish them the very best

ATM
Travel agent/daytrip organiser
The spa, nails & hairdressers (I agree with Faulky - the old showroom would be fab for that)
Clothes/Shoe store
Personally, I am pleased to see new food establishments open but to keep people on the resort (and spending money within the resort) we need tourist businesses on the resort too... Outside visitors need to want to come here for somethingand thenthey may stop for food too! Some random ideas:
Cinema / Ten pin bowling / roller skating / laser clay pigeon / laser quest / archery / indoor golf simulator / minigolf / Casino or Arcade / Heated exercise pool (lol)
I know some of these ideas have been banded about already, also know some of the above is a bit left field too ;)

Only Taxi can pick up and drop off around resort, no bus licence is being issued, we now have use of 14 seat minibus which we can start to use shortly . I put on facebook intentions to run bus service of a sort. No subsidies are available/
we thought trips to Archena . Bullas (dragon viajes do a few trips tomJumilla already) Local festivals . Adolfo is driver so he knows more about local events and where to go etc.
It has taken a long time to get this minibus to use on Condado. Not worth expense of unit on Al Kasar .

Hi Gabe,
Just to clarify there is currently 1 restaurant, 1 fast food restaurant (La Cata) an ice cream parlour, and a Tapas Bar and 1 pub. So really there are only 2 proper restaurants as the pub, tapas and ice cream parlour serve snacks rather than proper restaurant main meals.
With the golf it seems you can now only go if you are a member of all 6 courses and not just a member of Condado's
With regard to the moaning and stories on here you need to look under the surface to really see whats going on, we have evidence to back up all our claims or we wouldnt have said the things we have. Also you would probably moan had you been stitched up by the businesses and banks
We have been over 6 times in the last 6 months to have meetings with different people regarding the business that we arent allowed to do anymore so its been a waste of our time and money doing this
Hope this clarifies some of the thread and our feelings as its not about being positive when you know you have been stopped unecessarily

Hi Faulky,
Just want to clarify we are not trying to create a negative thread. A lot of the things you have mentioned would be good are either already there or in the pipeline down at the Condado Club
As for the Indian restaurant IRM have assured us in writing that no more eating places will be allowed to open due to the current businesses not wanting any more competition, thus preventing the further expansion of Al Kasars

Hi Hamibabe,
We did have an ATM planned to go in our unit as well as a laundrette and a few other ideas too but the other businesses have now put a stop to this through their objections to IRM. Like you have said though there is no reason for them to object as there isnt a Chinese/Indian restaurant there. Just as there isnt one of what we wanted to do in our unit but we still got stopped.
It seems they dont want you to buy food unless its from the businesses already set up for it . We argued with the banks to say we wanted to open up our unit to keep the money in Condado and not as you said for people to go to Mazarron/Camposol to find what you want due to the limited variety.
If you sell food you get a licence to sell drinks too, this is another arguement going on because food places are selling alcohol and alcohol places are selling food. There are lots of ongoing arguements going on over this currently.
Yes we did do our research, and had several key holders saying they would use us we also had driers and ironing presses planned to cater for the winter months
