Is anybody using a a dongle to connect to internet?  If yes, which one? I checked several on internet, and according to coverage maps they do not cover DV :(

We looked at using Europa internet, but they said to get a good signal the modem had to be in the line of sight with their transmittor which is on the top of estepona mountain. We are in phase one of DV so cannot see the transmittor as it is blocked by Coto Real.

We tried a dongle from Vodafone. The first was 30 euros and didn't connect for more than a couple of minutes at a time, they refused to refund so I bought a different one and it worked ok, but was pretty slow. We also seemed to go through the 1gb cards in about a day and at 12 euros each was getting very expensive.

We only used the dongles for a few weeks whilst we were waiting for the movistar fixed internet to be installed. Now we have this on their 30mb service and it's not cheap but it is pretty fast and reasonably reliable by Spain standards.

We have our internet through Orbit - they are agents for Europa/ Eurona so dont know if this is the same company? we are in block 7 and in line of sight with their transmitter above Manilva and are very happy with it. Speed is ok, download speed great. We didnt bother with the phone side as we use voip or skype as they are free - people cant phone us but we can live with that!!! They are also one of the cheapest interent providers we have seen in Spain.

 i was with movistar and had no complaints other than it was expensive but it was reliable. I just changed to telitec and lost my phone and internet for 2 days, but its early days so i will wait and see.The price is about the same but i get 2hours free calls to Uk a month and the calls are cheaper but again i shall see if it is cheaper.

We come out for one month each year and use an "Orange" dongle. [we tried Vodafone a few years ago]

We top it up in the Telefonica shop in Sabby and ALWAYS have trouble as they are always trying to serve three people at once - VERY annoying!!

If you haven't used it for 6 months you need to buy a new SIM - which we always have to do. - about 10 Euros.

From memory it's about 50 Euros for the month but it always manages to run out before we leave....!

Don't know how much the dongle is to start with now so you would have to check.
