Econorent always works best for me. I book through " Hirecarsinspain" I take the full/full option but they also do full/empty. It's off airport at Alicante but you get picked up and taken to their offices which are minutes away. Prices are good and we've never had any trouble. My daughter hired a car actually on the day of her 21st birthdaylast year without incident or penalty for being a youngster.

marmenorcarhire found to be excellent, the price they tell you is the price you pay, no adds on like petrol, car insurance, or the high excess that you have to pay
when we went to Alicante the car was there for us, and coming back they met us at Terrazas and drove us back to Alicante Airport, brilliant

I am not sure, but believe if he has held a license for over a year then he should be OK, best to check though first

They seem very expensive. I'm coming for 6 days in March, and paying £35. Mar Menor Car Hire want €180!!!
I always use travelsupermarket dot com for the best prices.

€35 sounds good compared to €180, however if you add the cost of a half or full tank of petrol which your supplier will charge you, and insurance, or the €300 - €600 excess deposit, you will prob exceed this amount.
I thought the same as you, until I tried marmenorcarhire, and it def worked out cheaper, plus got additional driver for free,
