CPR Update

July and August have proved to be busy months on Condado with the number of calls rising as predicted and proving that this is an essential service for the resort

We have attending numerous incidents many that have required hospitalisation from heat stroke to open wounds that need stiching to chest complaints. We had our 2 calls within 24 hours for the first time followed by 2 calls within 10 minutes this meant we had to prioritise but both were dealt with.

I would like to thank all the CPR volenteers who due to short numbers in the summer months have covered long hours and many doing double and treble shifts. The buddies that have joined when on holiday have been invaluble and premitted the service to continue again a very big thank you.

On a slightly diferent note all this requires funding and we are desperatly looking for some money collectors on Saturday night to shake a bucket for an hour on the Al Kasar Please contact me if you are willing to lend us an hour of you time

as this is an invaluable service that thankfully we have not required yet, why can't CPR approach the community to increase the fees for a nominal amount each qtr or year? Say 10 € per property per year would surely go a long way? ( approx 3000 properties, albeit not all sold = 30,000€ ? )Then any fundraising on top is a bonus. I for one would sooner have the peace of mind knowing that this service was there than not due to lack of financial commitments from potential users of this service. We all know times are hard for most due to recessionary times but 10€ is nothing over the year, obviously assuming that is sufficient?

Great idea am all for that but how can we make it happen

The estimated cost to run CPR would be an increase of approx 50 cents a month per appartment alot less than 10 euros this would also allow us to fund and maintain a much improved services.

The problem is that I believe that 100% of the community would have to agree to this for it to happen so get onto your president and that will start the ball rolling.

to correct you, only a majority vote is needed then it is automatically approved so the non-voters basically get no choice. They have the option of voting of course.

I am fortunate to have a paramedic as a husband but would panic if he was unable to advise me as to what to do if he needed medical help. I am ok with CPR but that is all

We also have family & friends that go out & Ham & I are very rarely there @ the same time

I know we would happily pay our 50cents a month

As in all things in live, there are things more important than Money.

From what I understand the biggest problem for CPR isn't getting funding, it getting people to help either by joining the buddy rota system and then hopefully going on the get the full responder training or by helping out on the adminstration side.  The owners on Condado are quite generous with making donations to the chariry but even if fully funded without the people on Condado willing to take a part CPR will not be able to grow

I agree people are needed, but unfortunately we only get out at best twice a year, so are not really in a position to offer much help. Therefore, the only way we can help is by contributing financially which we are more than happy do do, and I think it's a great suggestion from Neil of 50 cents per appartment. I have emailed the president of of our block registering our support. Hopefully, if we all do this, it will get the ball rolling.

it was actually myself who made the suggestion with Neil suggesting the price based on his community knowledge! 50 cents per month equates to 6€ p.a. So I wasn't far off?
