There is a dish on the roof. This means we get bbc world news, sky news and cnn. There are numerous european channels.

To get british channels we have had to but a sky box. This gives us the freeview type of channels we get in the uk. We dont get channel 4 or 5 though. If we want channel 4 and 5  we have to buy a card for 100 euros from where we bought the sky box.

If you want sky sports and sky movies you have to register and pay for a card

Hope this helps

Hi Dronk,

Thanks for your updates and the photos

How much did you pay for a sky box and also from your previous posts I gather that you will be looking to rent your apartment, have you done any research into the various management companies, is there one you can recommend?

We have got our furniture being delivered to our apartment in SAMOS 02/08 and hopefully will be coming out for a couple of weeks shortly after that.

Regards

deveso

Hi Deveso

We paid 250 euros

This gets the basic channels but not channel 4 or 5. If you want them you have to pay an extra 100 euros for a card to receive them.

I am not going to use a management company to rent. They told me they would manage my property but cant rent it because there are to many propertys out there. Most management copmpanys are asking to much money. Your best bet is to speak to the company in the port they seem to be the best and know what they are doing.

Any queries just ask

Going out beginnning of August

Don't have Sky at home, so I'm a bit clueless when it comes to them, but I have basic Freeview.

Trying to get my head around what we all have in our apartments, and from reading Dronk's and other's replies, is this the following ? :

1. Do nothing at all, and you will get a pile of foreign channels with maybe a couple of English speaking ones, BBC News 24, CNN ? or similar

2. Buy a digi-box (approx €200) and you can get BBC 1 to 4, ITV 1 to ?, - do you get all the BBC radio stations like Radio 4, World Service and 5 Live ?

3. Add a card to all this (approx €100 one-off payment) and you can get, in addition, Channels 4 and 5 ?

Have I got this right ?

Anybody got the web site of Kings Club at Monte Duquesa ? or any other supplier web sites that you would recommend ?

Thanks

Will

Hi Will,

We purchased our TV and a Sky digibox with a card for channels 4 and 5 from C.A.S.S. in Duquesa Port,
we dealt with Manuel Matarin who believe it or not is English, we found them very good, you can get TVs
cheaper from Carrefour, but we decided to let them supply and install them all, they charged us 50 euros
to install,  although this was just plugging into our digital and satelite sockets, and setting everything up.
and we are very pleased, we can get quite a lot of english channels, and lots of English radio channels,
but not Sky Sports or Movies as that would have cost us a monthly card  and as we are only holidaying in our
appartment at present we did not think it would be worth it.
Also we would be interested in any internet connections and phone.

Regards Richard and Wendy.

Thanks Richard & Wendy

Do you have a web site or email address for C.A.S.S. ?

We aim to complete 31 Mar 08 and have the TV set up organised for us coming over in May.

To be honest, it's the radio stations we are interested in, Radio 4/5 Live etc.

Will

Hi.

I brought my box and card from the UK, when I moved i here. We bought an adapter for a couple of euros from Carrefour and it is fine. We've lived in Coto Real since June and only lose the sky signal during thunder storms.

We cant get a phone or internet yet - something about there not being enough connections on site. Have been told it could take a year or more. I have a vodafone mobile internet connection that I got from Top Digital in estepona. We then use a skype phone to dial out  you cant get a skype in number in Spain.

Thanks for that Seabass.

Was checking out today those internet dongle thingies which gives you mobile internet connection to your laptop anywhere you are, but it was a bit rich for me.

Maybe when prices come down a bit, though it would be very handy using it from the terrace.

In the meantime I think I will just slum it and go down to a wifi hot spot in the Port -:)

I wouldn't be holding my breath then on fixed lines to the Urbanisation - it is going to be a few years before our numbers build up........

Will
