Further to several meetings in Spain last week, my intention is to supply a full update on items discussed by COB Thursday 28th June. However the following notification concerning the swimming pool closure in PM2C is urgent. This notice has been displayed on the onsite notice boards and around the swimming pool area.
Closure of PM2 C Swimming Pool:
The Pool servicing blocks 14 to 20 has been closed by the Health & Safety inspectors from the county council , after an inspection which took place on Tuesday 19th June 07.
There were several faults found, including:
· Missing 1 x pool ladder
· Some of the pool ladders installed incorrectly
· Showers deemed unfit for purpose due to construction defects.
· Wall by pump house posed a risk of collapsing
· Insufficient air vent installed in pump house
· Cracks in floor near to the Pool edge and throughout the tiled area, indicating subsidence.
A full report is being generated by Ammex, which will be forwarded onto Interlaken, requesting them to respond within 7 days with a plan of action to resolve the defects listed above.
In parallel, Ammex will be instructing an architect to inspect the swimming pool area on behalf of the community. Any work/resolution proposed by Interlaken will be monitored by this specialist to ensure that the fix will be a permanent solution and not just a temporary cover up.
The Community Board of Directors appreciate that this swimming pool closure comes at an inconvenient time with the summer season upon us, however, we as a community needs to adhere to this ruling made by the county council´s Health and Safety department.
Owners in PM2 C are therefore kindly requested to utilise the other pools on the complex during this closure, all sun beds have been relocated to the other 2 pools within PM2.
Closure timescales and further updates will be posted as soon as they are available.
The Community Board of Directors appreciates your corporation and patience concerning this matter.
Best regards
Community Board of Directors.
Please note that failure to comply with the pool closure would have resulted in financial and potential legal action being taken against the community by the county council authorities (Junta De Andalucia)
Regards
Peter Lund
