I have contributed to the forum previously regarding this excuse for a business, but would like to relate my latest experience. I visited my apt at the end of an 11 month long-term rental. What I found was unbelievable. The place was filthy, even though it had allegedly been cleaned by AE. The grouting on the floor tiles in the entire apt is black. We spent 2 full days trying to clean the kitchen and had to throw out 2 pans.
The bed sofa is badly stained, as well as the double bed mattress which is filthy on both sides, the bath has a cigarette burn, the bathroom door has water damage for a full 6 inches up from the bottom, the upholstery seating on the dining chairs is badly stained, our pillows have been replaced by cheap ones which are unspeakably stained, 2 freezer doors smashed, ironing board replaced by a very old cheap one, 1 patio chair broken, 2 hinges broken on single bedroom wardrobe, tile broken behind sofa, plus various other breakages.
The following items were STOLEN: 1 single bed throw, 18 bed sheets, 19 Egyptian cotton towels, 5 pillow cases, 2 double bed blankets, 2 single bed blankets, 1 plastic table cloth, 7 tea towels, various plates, spoons, wine glasses, champagne glasses, ashtrays, 1 stainless steel teapot, 1 coffee pot, 2 waste paper bins, washing basket and clothes pegs, oven glove, saucepan lids, place mats and coasters, clothes hangers.
Our letter box outside the front entrance was also smashed. I suspect this was so that the tenant who did not have the key(retained by AE) could remove bills as they arrived and destroy them, hence one of the reasons we had continuous problems getting utility payments from AE.
My message to anyone considering renting with this outfit is "DO NOT DO IT." It is definitely not worth the trouble, not at twice the rent they pay. To date I have had absolutely no satisfaction from AE. I have not been offered any recompense and I am also still awaiting payment of the final months rent. I will in due course post on the Message Board further messages as to how AE deal with this situation. In the meantime, I say to everyone thinking of renting at Marina D'Or, GIVE THIS COMPANYA VERY WIDE BERTH.
