 Hello

I have been informed today that my mortgage from the CAM bank will be aggreed tommorrow. We fly out next week to do our snagging notary etc. Does anyone know how long signing of the papers and documents for the mortgage take? I am trying to plan our week, and would find it very helpful if any of you have done this process already for your advice.

Many thanks

Nic Greenshields

Hi Nic,  We completed last month and took a mortgage with cam bank and opened a euro and sterling accounts etc. We arranged to call in to the branch the day before the notary, to check through everything and sign all the documents for the bank accounts. We found them very helpful. We were shown how to access and use the internet banking facility, which is fantastic. You will sign the mortgage documents at the notary. One pointer for you is, check with the bank that there are no more documents to sign after completion, as we have since been informed that there are several still to be signed. Also if you are not taking the banks house insurance, make sure you take out a policy for their recommended Amounts of cover, and take a copy with you for their records. Hope this is of some help to you.  Good Luck.  Duncan Gray.

Our CAM Bank mortgage has been agreed and we sign on 10th March. Completing on 11th. We can't decide whether to take Polaris insurance at €265 or Cam's at €325. Anyone got any strong views or advice apart from the obvious one that Polaris's is cheaper? The staff at CAM have been most helpful to us too.

Having considered both options recently, we were happy to proceed with the Polaris Insurance as this cover is underwritten by a well respected Company in the Indusrty, (i.e. Zurich) & is a very competitively priced contract.  This policy would appear to provide very comprehensive cover, from the policy document, which is issued to you at completion.

If you have a CAM mortgage, I think you may be able to obtain a slightly discounted rate if you take out various insurances, cards or an Internet account (which is brilliant) with CAM, & so if you had a big mortgage you would need to crunch down the figures to work out whether it would be beneficial to take out CAM's policy, i.e. the more expensive contract. Maria at CAM in Sucina is brilliant at explaining the options to you if you want to explore further, & she speaks excellent English.

Hi, I agree totally with all that has been said about CAM, we got everything arranged by E-mail before we went to Sucina and then signed the various documents when we went there. The whole process took only about one hour, try to get there early (I think they open at 8am). Once the mortgage is signed up they also represent you at the Notaries office to check that the figures are correct, we found this very helpful as we knew that they checked over the title deeds to confirm ammounts to be paid to Polaris etc.

The web site is great, you can conduct all bank transfers for furniture etc. through interbank transfers from the site. I believe they are moving this branch into Riquelme at a later stage.
