We are trying to decide what kind of heating (if any) to have in our property and have been quoted the following prices by San Jose.  Could anyone advise which would be the best and most economical to run.

    • Underfloor Heating (Whole Property)      4215euros
    • Elec Radiators (Whole Property)              3360euros
    • Gas Radiators (Whole Property)              4188euros

Also does anyone know if you can just have the unerfloor heating turned on in specific rooms.  We presume you can with the gas and electric.

Thanks

Dave & Rose

Hi Davro

I dont know which is the most economical but we have gone for part underfloor heating, which we decided on as being the lounge, outside the shower room, main bedroom and bathroom. [leaving out the second bedroom, the first floor landing and the kitchen and shower room.] as we wont be spending much time in those areas. The cost will be 2655 Euros.Just over half the cost of the [whole] With underfloor heating you cannot switch each room on seperately but you can turn on either the first floor or the ground floor. We have bought a Azucena. Hope that is of some help to you.

            Bob.

Hi Rose & Dave
It depends a great deal on whether you intend to live here full time or holidays or rentals etc. You definately need heating if you are going to be in the house during the winter months here.  It gets cold when the sun goes down in the winter and can get below freezing especially in February.
In my opinion low consumption electric radiators are good. Gas could be a lot of messing about cos you have to get the gas delivered all the time orgo an collect it from a supplier in town once a week and store the bottles somewhere. Unless San Jose have something else up their sleeves. My husband says that Underfloor heating is probably the most efficient although I know that not everyone thinks that.
We have plumped for Underfloor heating but will be renting out (we hope).

As Linda Needham says the low cost electric radiators run out quite cheap in fact

Hope this helps.  I have just cancelled my order for per installed air con ducting as I intend to live there for a season or two before i shell out money on some thing I may not want

By this I mean we will not be there to supervise installation and they may put the pre install where you want furniture. I can only say I have been to Spain in all seasons now and stay in an apartement which has no heating and a swivel heater works well

Hi Hawkings I have bought a Azuchena and yes you can put a fireplace in ,I have one ordered and it can fit a wood burner it goes between the window and the dining area , there are many designs but we have gone for one of the smaller versions,  opp the tv in the showhouse

Maybe I wont need the underfloor heating now , but I hope I have covered all aspects of hot and cold in my build

Cheers

Hi Again Kevin.

Thanks for your info on the fireplace.I notice Rose has asked how much it will cost but also Kevin, where does the flue outlet go? Is it like overhere where the chimney and chimney breast goes all the way uo through the bedroom to the roof, or should i say solarium? What is the TOTAL cost all-in??
