We returned from 3 weeks in our appartment a couple of weeks ago. Like everybody else who has been out there, we experienced good and bad points.
We have one of the penthouses in the upper part of the development and during our entire stay we didn't have any light in the communal areas. Still, with the help of a couple of torches we managed to find our way. More seriously, the heavy rains and wind just before Christmas caused water coming in from under the front door all the way into the kitchen and as a result he doorframes are heavily stained and warped. We were promised that they would be replaced, but of course this doesn't prevent water coming in again next time it rains. I would recommend that everybody who has a penthouse checks this urgently. We were told that the developer is getting an architect to see what can be done, perhaps put a porch over the door.
Like the Macs we are using Maggie Wood to check our appartment regularly and make sure that everything is ok. She comes in once a week and after bad weather, and also does cleaning, changing bedding etc. if required. Highly recommended! She can be reached on 0034 616328119 or maggie@helpinghandspain.com.
We went to Benahavis Town Hall to see what is being built on the hill opposite (west of development) and were told that these people are building illegally and have already been fined. We had a look at the plans and it looks as if there is indeed a large area of green belt around La Hacienda. We also asked about the exit road from the toll road and were told that there are no plans and never have been to build an exit there. The only exit they had planned, but has not been approved, would be the other side of the tunnel towards Estepona. I took a photo of the plan, which I'm happy to email.
Apart from that - we had a brilliant time. Everybody who visited us thought the development was stunning. We are going back there for Easter. If anybody else is, would be great to meet you.
