How worried did you get when you heard the news about the earthquake. Epicentre about 12-15k sw of Mirador 3.3 on the richter scale. According to news reports no structural damage done or anyone injured. Have sent e-mail to our agent to ask about the site but prob won't get response until this evening at earliest. Anyone else hear anything about Mirador? Stuart.

Hi Stuart.

Thanks so much for that ...Just Unbelievable!!  I certainly didn't hear about the earthquake near Mirador. but Just after we returned home from Spain.....on the 23rd... Our area of Derby, was hit quite strongly with an earthquake measuring 5 on the richter scale.  It happened at 1am..and was  the first night I have gone to sleep before midnight..... in many, many years. I normally hear anything & everything. But I was so exhausted after our trip to spain..that I slept  right through it. Our daughters woke us with their screaming.. as it was so strong the whole house moved.  This is the 3rd for us..here in Derby . But the last was only 2.7 on the scale. There was a lot of building damage.chimneys etc..and roofs.. The new school my husband teaches at..had cracks in the walls. etc.

I can't believe it has now hit near Cox...It makes you wonder what is happening.  I had thought about Spain being more likely..with  mountains..and dry terrain.  I never ever expected the UK to have earthquakes... But they claim we have many tremors a year..but so trivial that they are not noticed. My husband certainly has lived 63 years in the Uk..and never noticed any before these past 6 years or so. I will be trying to find more info on this earhtquake in spain..

Welcome home by the way. I believe you went over to see the apts. just after us.  I Would be so pleased to hear any of your news or updates...Was the weather good? We hit a very cold spell the first few days.  which shifted over to the Uk later. But It was far worse at home  according to my daughters..with freezing fog & bitter temps.  It  did warm up for us.. as the week went along. And we were able to enjoy some hours of lovely sunshine...and a lunch on a terrace overlooking the sea.  Which we really enjoyed. Cold again at night..but we had a wonderful time.  We thought the apts & complex  were looking really great.   They were very busy during our week working on the pool...and painting all the outside walls.  so things seem to be really moving now. All the Best,  Carol & Danny

 welcome back

Hey again Stuart...just looked on the websites..and found there was a minor 2.3 quake in Janurary in Santa Pola..and in Nov. near Javea. It beggers belief. And there have been various other minor ones over the past year or so.....and some very stong ones..in Seville.& Barcelona.  It makes me laugh..as we have waited for years to come to spain for the better climate.  Yet we always have such horrendous luck..it is nearly a joke.  We blame the NO 13 we live at.  So we were eager to leave it all behind..

But  having been to Spain..5 times in the past year...and having hit all the storms..rain...& cold...and totally freak weather.   (They keep telling us it is a one off..and very rare. ) And... All the people that visit either  just before... or just after us...  "do have Good warm, sunny weather." Now an earthquake right near to where we are buying...  And another in Derby...it makes you wonder?? LOl

But we are still keen to move..and still love the country. Carol

Hi Carol, weather was very pleasent, if v cold at night. Apartments looking great, 1 neighbour moved in already ( no 40, Pete and Sue) nice couple from Devon plan to live in Cox through winter and back to Uk in summer. Pool was being tiled and our apartment was getting its builders clean prior to final inspection. Managed to get quite a bit of furniture shopping done, if you've not done so already check out Mahersols furniture shop in Torrevieja. They are offering some good discounts to Mirador buyers (furniture 10% and aircon units at v low price). We did look about and found some furniture slightly cheaper but the conveinience of being able to tie it all up with the seller and they come and fit on completion made paying a little extra a price worth paying. Nice stuff to, but some hideous stuff to be seen as well. Live well, hope to see you and Danny not to mention the rest of our neighbours this summer. Best wishes Stuart.

Hi Stuart,

So Glad to hear you had good weather.and that they are now tiling the pool ..it was rapidly taking shape while we were there. But the tiles will really make the difference.

A truly huge surprise....was   to read that someone was already living at Mirador. We never saw anyone. We came three different days... after hours..and on the Sunday..and just wandered around the site alone and unnoticed. . And twice...during the working day.. had to put a hard hat  on while walking through the grounds. As It was definitely a building site in at least 50% of the area.

It equally shocked me to get a completion letter  today...dated feb 26.. the Monday..just 2  days after our last visit..and following the weekend. Saying our apt was complete.  But  it had loads to do yet.. as of  Friday evening..

Regarding the furniture..we looked in several shops.and checked out various furniture packs..both online and in spain. We also called at Masa's furniture shop in Torrevieja..and In  the Mahersol shop..that you mentioned..as we were to pick an oven for the kitchen..and we also had an air conditioning package on hold from them.. While over there, we did look around..and found the same result as yourself. Some really nice things..and an awful  lot of not so nice. We were made a very good deal at Mahersol... on their top range package.. that I had liked from the start. we were also offered an upgrade on the beds to memory foam..and a much  more solid beds base..plus the oven ...the air con sorted..and some extras..for an extremely good price after the discount.

As you say..with limited funds..and time to search..and pick and choose. Then have them all delivered ..assembled..etc.. It was a very easy option to deal with the builder..who appears to have a very good reputation. And will do it all for us and have it all in place, hopefully, when we move in. And be there still..should anything go wrong.  Best Wishes..and heres' to the Future! Look forward to us all meeting and enjoying our life in Spain. Carol
