Buying a spanish reg car before moving to spain

Many thanks to all for the updates, the photos and for the encouragement to hang  in. It really does sound like it has been worth the wait. Any "fresh news" on progress with the road would be much appreciated.

me again...Zzzz (i know)...

Paul, it does seem some people have not completed because of the snagging yes.  But honestly you lot, whilst it sounds major to have a list of snags, they really are minor ones.  Maybe if you have major problem somewhere then thats understandable but ours are minor bits and pieces that are being done whilst we are in.  That way we have been able to sort all the rest out at the same time.  /What about you Paul? are you sorry you completed before snag done or are you glad? We would not be completed yet either if waited for the jobs to be done.  I also have to say that a lot of my little snags i don't even notice now i am in.  I am waiting for a plug socket repair, new fridge door, light fitting and a few bits and pieces. some grouting on balcony and painting out there too. Some things have been done and some are still outstanding.  I wouldn't hold back unless you have major defects somewhere but can totally understand those that have.  It depends whether you want to be in straight away.  it has taken a couple of visits to sort my side of things out anyway.

Laurden, your pool (blocks5,6,12,13) is done.  They were finishing it as i left and the gardener said people could go in when i asked (although the water is very 'fria') he said.  The spanish are very used to hot weather. It always amazes me when its hot for us but they all have overcoats and wellies on!.   There were people moved in block 6.  About 6 apartments were being used.  Washing out and everything.  A couple of them were spanish families so don't know if they are permanent.  I too emailed juan from the uk, i got one reply but i couldn;t really get a proper understanding from writing.  He said he finds it difficult to explain backwards and forwards in writing and to phone him. Try that.  Just tell him when you coming out and stick to basic questions.  You speak spanish right tracy? even better than me i think.

David, phase 4 is indeed all up and rendered now, don't know about internal fittings tho sorry.    the road that links it is done but closed off to traffic. As you know, you are not affected by the 'road from hell' and every time i have gone i have seen huge improvement. The pedestrian access is open which means we can walk across to the manilva road, near the big super sol, through a lovely estate of villas and town houses without having to go down into sabbi too. That road surprised me as i didn't realise it was going to be there. The locals were walking the children to and from the new school.

MArgo, what are you doing in China!? Get out there and complete  in spain.  I hope you get the discount, i know a couple have given up and completed without it now and i'm sorry my lawyer couldn't be more help for you.  If you hang on for your snags but plan to go out in august, you'll find theres lots to do that you hadn't thought of so give yourself a couple weeks for that. There's no point in rushing if your not going out until august.  You are being so patient with them and that discount.

You know the funniest thing about this road is that, for those that haven't been and seen it, when you do, its just a very small stretch of it that we are talking about.  They've still got to do the other mile after our section! ha.  But i know what you mean Fossie, my friends/family thought i had imagined ever buying an apartment i'm sure.  I'll post some photos of the road next week

We are glad we completed and are furnished.  However, due to business commitments, it had to be done when it was as the next time we can both get out is July which would have left it too late to get any summer bookings (fat chance anyway). So hopefully the snagging will be done by then.

The Spaniards in block 6 are weekenders and were very friendly and helped greatly with the lack of electricity when the generator ran out of diesel one Saturday.  That was just negligence really.  Although the road is short, they seem to have dug it out to a depth of about 2 metres judging by the inspection chambers they have got in position.

As for the discount, we were told categorically that there wasn't one.  I don't know if this can be claimed retrospectively.  I would be interested to know when people who have got it bought their apartment.  I know Suzanne bought late in the day.

Well, initially, there were a few people who received a 3% reduction in the cost of the apartment, supposedly to compensate them for the delay. So, when we asked for it, having been in since 2003, we were told that there had never been any compensation given at all, no-one had received any, and we could whistle Dixie for ours. Now, we know that is porky pies......because eyeonspain people have confirmed it for us..so we've got the hump! Our money is sitting waiting in the bank, we are ready to go and our solicitor has been instructed by us to wait until the last possible legal moment to complete. It suits us right now, because we can't get over for a while and they can just wait until it blooming well suits us. Meanwhile, we're not paying a mortgage. I'm just hoping the Euro doesn't get any stronger or else we'll be forced to move quicker. Margo

tv is supposedly coming this week.  delivery driver phoned and says he delivering before wed but who knows.  Anybody needing shower cubicle in second bathroom, we have managed to get it for 200euros fitted. Can give you details if required. Left my dad out there sorting it and was around 300+ but last minute was cheaper at 200 at different place.  Its nice too.  Have just booked for may again until 6th june if anybody out there wishing to have a toast!.   I wish i was collecting air miles, given the amount of visits i've had.  not had a month off yet.  Hang on.... that sounded like i was complaining. definately not.  Still awaiting camera until thursday to post pics. sorry.

Do not want to dash your hopes regards  T / V, have just recieved mail from our Sol  who is dealing with obtaining our T/ V  the person who deals with delivery has been taken ill, (not as sick as we are waiting) and they are trying to find someone else who can deal with it , hope we all get T / Vs quicker than completion.

We are in Block 5 , Portal 17, and are due out there on the 17th May to 24th May and would like to meet up with any one who will be there the same time , also if any one  in Block 5  are willing to share the cost of having Sky installed could you please contact me or leave a messege on the forum  to talk about this.

Does anybody have any idea how many people have completed ?, it would be nice to know the total number just to see how quick they are getting through the completions  if some one out there or will be soon reads this mabye they can ask Juan if he has a number. also if you are out there and  have been unlucky enough to have had rain ( Hope not  ) could you please check the pool by Block  5 as this is the one which had the soil washed down into it and I feel that if we get fairly heavy rain the same thing will happen . Due to the fact the rain will run off  the soil onto the path which then runs straight down into the small paddle poole at the bottem of it, I think it may need some kind of drainge system just before the paddle pool. Would  like to here your thoughts on this from any one who is around that pool Bocks 5,6,13,12.

And finaly I wonder if Peps could please e/mail the name of the people who installed here Sky .(Thanking you in advance)

having a few problems putting photos on.   don't know why. have posted a few of all the pools finished but have some of phase 4, the road that is closed and all your photos alan, lots of your pool, and also your  block (one outside your block doors which is good, but look s exactly the same layout as mine in block 11).  The life belts even been put around the pools but no loungers yet. maybe this week.  can't seem to put the rest of the photos on site at the moment.  maybe they having few problems.  i try again tomorrow.   I will provide info to all those asked about sky or shower cubicle tom.  been busy today sorry.  Tv never arrived, apparently problem with delivery driver but will post as soon as it arrives.

Thanks for the photos - it looks really good now and hopefully you'll get those Phase 4 ones for me. One thing we were wondering - Paul is in Phase 1, Block 7 ground floor corner nearest the sea, over the car park entrance and from some of the photos we've seen it looks like the shutters are open and it's being lived in - they aren't using it as a show flat or anything else are they?!?! He's surprised not to have heard anything yet on completion so just wondered.

I guess the wait for another 12 months will be worth it and by then the pound may be stronger (or not!)

i have some pics of phase 4 here in front of me dave.  just seems to not accept them at the moment on eye on spain.  i'll keep trying until i get some more on for yous.

regarding the apts with shutters open.  When you walk around there are some with doors left open and everything.  They seem to close some, half close others and not even shut the doors on some.  We have said that each time we have gone out.  They don't seem to bother about them being left open at the moment.  i don't know why.

That apartment is below us and there was nobody in occupation and it isn't a show flat.
