Any one have any inclination as to how much (approx) wealth tax is and whether both parties on the deed are liable for half or all the amount.

As far as I can make out it is total assests (ie apartment) less any mortgage multiplied by about 0.3%.

Waiting to hear back from our solicitor on this, but was just wondering if anyone knew.

Also we have just had a direct debit taken from our account for €143 Aquagest Leva which I assume is the connection charge for the  water.

According to the San Miguel De Salinas web site forum wealth tax was abolished on January 1st 2008, hopefully this is true!

If you look at the algorfa website.www.algorfa.co.uk it says it is ceasing,however,it is paid one year behind and so for me I think I will have to pay this year but sounds like you guys should be okay.

we have had our apartment for 2 yrs and we normally pay about 350 euro's but because our joint names are on the deeds it costs us more and about 2/3 of it goes to the solicitor handling it on our behalf.

I always felt it was a crazy and probably illegal tax.
