Some might think that the title to this letter is a bit OTT but this is excactly how I feel.I'm an Essex boy who has spent the last 50 years working in engineering and building services maintanance, who never dreamed he would be spending his retirement here in Spain on a beautiful complex like The Hacienda Riquelme.

I cannot wait to have family and friends come to stay with me and share my good fortune,To have my sons and their families enjoying the good life with me is foremost in my mind.

Yesterday I saw the delivery of 6 white golf Buggies which are now housed at the golf hut, which is no where near completed.Work is still going on today inside the grounds of the Hacienda, and the unfinished block in my group of four.

The weather has taken a turn, Its started to rain and I hear thunder so Im glad I am staying in this afternoon, when it rains here,it rains, believe me.

For those of you who are wondering where to buy your beds Nic and I got ours at DFS in San Javier well made with storage compartments accessed by lifting the divan section which is hinged to the base giving heaps of storage space. and the matresses are superb.best nights sleep Ive had for ages.

Dos Mares is a shopping mall, which houses a Euroski super market where you can buy anything from food to televisions including clothes.there are also very good clothes shoes, mobile phone shops, a shop similar to Band Q, a cooked food hall upstairs,  and others too many to mention.

While you are all basking in the heatwave in the Uk,it is chucking it down here,I thought its supposed to be the other way round,  isnt it ?.

Dos Mares by the way is on the road from San Javier to San Pedro a mile and a half from thhe Notary office in San Javier

Bye for now   Lennie

Glad someone else is enjoying the HR resort.  You're right, its a fabulous location with great views.

Shame about the golf club area.  I was hoping that the bar would soon be open so that people can have somewhere to go on-site and meet up.

Don't worry about the weather, it'll soon be on the other foot.  Besides,  the course needs it and it can't be any worse than the winter rains - you get the cold wind then as well!

Keep happy.

Its so nice to hear whats going on from day to day.

Can't wait to get out there, if only for 10 days.
Half a loaf is always better than none at all.

See you out there soon.

Hi Lennie Even though we are buying on Los Naranjos, Condado site, I am really enjoying reading yours and your sons posts. They're really uplifting. So glad it's turning out the way you imagined. Ours won't be ready for a while yet, so it's nice reading about how it could be. I hope you don't mind me asking, but you say you got your beds from DFS? They are getting a lot of mentions on these forums and we are really fussy about the beds we sleep on. We have had some right nightmares whilst on holiday in different apartments. So would you mind giving us an idea of how much you paid for them? The DFS site doesn't give any prices, and it would be nice to try and get together a few prices before we can come over again. If you would prefer to email us, just send a PM and i'll send it. Thankyou and once again, thanks for the great posts.

Cuz

We bought our beds & sofa bed & chair through DFS after getting prices from lots of suppliers around Murcia.

This after staying in a La Torre apartment which was furnished by DFS, so we knew the quality of the furniture.

We had excellent service & communiction from Cora, who is English, throughout the buying process.

Thanks for that, we prefer to buy on recommendations and we haven't seen a bad post about them.

I could not aggree more with you Mozz,  DFS  excell in being helpful. You may not get all you want there according to your taste,

but what you will get is value for money, good service,(all staff are English),and impeccable fitting and assembly, because unlike the UK

when they deliver they do every thing for you.Screwing headboards to walls, hanging mirrors, and assembling the beds if needed.

We bought three beds, their white goods package, all bathroom fittings including shower screen.I did not have to do a thing.

The DFS man who came to fit the bathroom fittings has since been back privately to put up our lights, and other jobs ive given him.

All in all DFS are one company I would highly recommend

Best wishes  Lennie
