Capital gains tax - allowable acquisition costs

has anyone had emails from a david king in the format david_kingXXXX@yahoo.com
i had one as a result of an advert placed by us on one of the holiday letting websites
the outcome of which that he has sent me a check (his spelling) for euro 5000 and wants me to bank it and then refund the difference between the holiday cost (inclding da
ys out to local amenities and car hire etc) he claims its for a honeymoon couple and that he is based as a doctor on a us navy ship in the gulf

i wasnt born yesterday and soon realised it is a scam - he would give over any details of renters names and flight times and did not even ask for directions

this is just a warning to anyone out there who may have heard from him or others with a similar story and method of trying to book a rental period

any views and/or experiences most welcome

This is just another version of a common scam which comes in various guises.

They always want to send you a cheque for more than is required and want the balance used for a variety of reasons. Of course, their cheque will never clear and anyone foolish enough to follow their request not only will lose however much the balance is, but also the original amount.

Thanks for the advice. I also got an email from one "Reverend Brownm", trying to book my apartment for 1 month in September. He claimed he was in Ukraine setting up some kind of mission while his family was in Nigeria (also setting up missions, as it seems). They would travel separately and meet at the apartment, therefore he was asking me to pay all the amount in advance.

I ignored it, suppose it is a scam.
