This post got lost today with all the other debate .I would really appreciate your opinions on this and any help so far only 2 posters have said it would help What do the rest of you think. I have already spoke to politicians  UK to raise awareness do people think this is worth persuing.

I have just been on to the UK press association .They said its better to start with the papers that printed the story when SJ first went in to administration. As they may want to follow up.I called the paper  that printed tha article I read  and they said they would be interested in doing a follow up  but would need an email stating any new developments since May whats happening with buyers  etc to enable them to research and follow up a with factual article .Only I am not sure if there really have been any new developments that are fact apart from perhaps numbers involved thier ( first article stated it could involve 1500 uk buyers ) The fact that the bank guarentees etc could cost 1000s to enforce is this news worthy. The Fact that the business of even registering as a creditor could also cost 1000s. I dont  know .Is it even worthwhile to raise awareness of our plight, would anyone in power take notice Uk or Spanish.Any way the paper I contacted is a Scottish paper (broad sheet) but the guy did say the story needs to be out out there to go national ,Tv news etc.Any.way I have his Email he wants me to email details tonight if poss.Of course he asked if I would go public with my details  etc and I said I would rather not mostly for reasons of the job I do.He asked if there was anyone else who would not mind going public .What do others think is it worthwhile or have we got enough on our plates please advice      JA

Hola todos,
YES  it is necessary to raise awareness of our plight through the media. Local Press, National Press  ,TV  , contact your local Political Representative and tell them your story.  I find it incredible that we may loose all our money in a modern European Country in the 21st centuary!.

Hi Guys

I too believe media coverage is needed but not the seedy sort, you know the "Holiday Homes From Hell" stuff,  and also not just for us, there are al lot of spanish people who are losing out as are others, I have watched many a spanish property programme and think it' time Spain was uncovered, it's corrupt the jo public are never favoured no matter what legal status they have.  I have to laugh really because not long ago people were saying oh my god don't let bulgaria join the EU, it will never work its corrupt too much crime blah blah blah, i think people need to look closer to home.  Now i am sure that brussels could play a good part in this, where are people's rights, cos im damed sure we have some.....

I will join in the scream to the highest mountains and i will go public, i don't care who knows, all it was ever about was a better quality of living, whether you were retiring, starting a new business, holiday homes, etc... the treatment that has been recieved is beyond belief and i belive no one is untouchable, the government or whoever is responsible should be wearing a black mask and a striped jumper.

Using the media is all about timing and being specific.  We need to identify what we want to achieve first, then who we are trying to expose and for what purpose.  The problem with todays news is tomorrow it's forgotten about.  It has to be used to force an issue, to embarass the culprits and also give opportunities to the good guys.

Personally I would start with the subject of Bank Guarantees and It would go something like this.

Did agents inform clients that previous clients had not been issued with BGs?  No they did not!
Did lawyers inform their clients that previous clients had not received BGs? No they did not!
Did Banks refuse to accept deposits knowing they were not issuing BGs?  No they did not!
Did the Spanish law kick in and stop proceedings knowing that BGs were not being issued?  No it did not!!

Get my drift, obviously you can't say things you can't prove and would need specific cases to highlight.  You also need to highlight those that did do the right thing and did respond in the right way.  This way it forces competition throughout the process and puts pressure on those who don't.

What better publicity for agents, lawyers, banks etc to be able to say, we got it right, did the right thing and now business is booming.

We have time and information, also the threat that we have the press ready and waiting is sometimes enough.

Just initial thoughts.

Hi Redman

He he you're so right, i get carried away with myself, because im so annoyed,  but yes we did everything right got bank gurantee blah blah blah....it even says this stuff about avalar/aval on it so i guess i could be the one who did everything right as with others.

It is others that need exposing ie solicitors agents etc... it makes it worse that they actually took your money and knew the law but failed to inform clients, where as san jose probably was not looking for this outcome, My guess is that a lot of people also used solicitors that were recomended to them by the agents and we all know what that's all about.   It's a very sorry affair with only one set of losers...us...

Now if we want to do this media thing i recommend a forum of what needs to be said, updates, facts, etc... then make representations because we all can't do this, someone who knows what they are talking about and can express themselves very well.

Jannine x
