Hi all,
Could anyone tell me how much their solicitors are charging, to list them as creditors? Or indeed, if you know of the overall solicitor fees for this process?
It would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
rldodds.

Hi Ridoddd be very careful when it comes to lawyers costs, we are on our third lawyer due to the amount the first two wanted us to pay. They have no conscience when quoting fees!!! Sharks spring to mind. Shop around, the lawyers on this site are reasonable speak to Martin or Maria Cheers Joanniemac

As I understand things, you need to be on the 'official' list lodged with the administrators, and not merely on the list supplied by the developer. This is the first stage of the process. The next stage [as advised to me at any rate] is where the solicitor defends your interests in the court whether you want to proceed with the purchase or fight for a refund. This stage requires a 'power of attorney' being granted to the solicitor which takes a little while especially in UK. For your information, our solicitor is charging 2000 euros for both stages [1200 to us as we were already a client for the purchase]. Apparently, no solicitor will give you a price for getting on the official list of creditors as a sole task - it's the complete process or nothing! Hope this helps.[I agree about the internet and these forums, otherwise we would be completely in the dark].

hi Johnstuart,
i have gone with the same solicitor and I am paying him 1200 Euros fee for the process. He has told me that he does not need Power of Atorney for the first stage in ansuring that my deposit is recognised by the Court. He has asked for copies of my contracts etc and made an appointment for the Power of Attorney for when I am over at the end of July. It is very important that every one has legal representation and are informed of their opition by them.
All the best to you
I want my House..........................and I am going to get it!

My brother in law has brought a property with no bank guarrentee and like many hasnt got the money for a solicitor what can he do? its very un fair on all of us to have to pay out more money but even worse for people who havent got any money. Can they not go direct to the administrators?

Just for information and for those who do not know. If you do power of attorney in the UK you will also need a Hague Apostille. We got this done locally from a notary public here in Leicester both cost 130 pounds.
