Taken from TIMESONLINE:
"A Place in the Sun

The brochures were too good to be true. Buyers gazed in wonder at those shimmering golf courses - yet to be built; the beautiful beaches - only a short two hour drive away; the lively restaurants and bars - now abandoned; and those glorious villas - mostly unsold.

Thousands of British ex-pats, wanting to live the dream of eating a full English on their own patio gazing out over the Mediterranean, are facing up to a Spanish property nightmare. Prices have slumped by up to 65 per cent in the last year according to some websites, as the market is struck by a country-wide collapse in house values and massive overdevelopment on the Costa Del Sol. In the most acute cases, Brits who have bought off plan are now stuck with apartments in uncompleted developments they don’t want but can’t sell. "

Hi All,
I am gratefull that i chose a location not dependant upon the coastal bubble reliant on expats paying silly money to have UK etc in the Sun. Thank goodness we all chose a fantastic location away from the concrete jungles, kareoke  and rude people and also has 50% Spanish purchasers. Pheeww.

All the best to every one. remain calm do not be panicked by anyone

Hola,   Theres that 50 % Spanish  buyers  again !  Where has this come from ? Can anyone justify this figure ?. I am very sceptical about this figure and would  like someone to confirm with facts and not some wishful thinking.

Hi Laganside,
Why don't you call your agent and Pilar etc and ask what is the proportion of purchasers?  I have spoken to agents etc and i have been up there when only Spanish purchasers have been at SADM purchasing.
All the best to you

"a location not dependant upon the coastal bubble reliant on expats paying silly money"
With one of the main selling points used is far cheaper, than those nearer the coast.
Could, sorry did influence many.

"I am gratefull that i chose a location not dependant upon the coastal bubble"
"the beautiful beaches - only a short two hour drive away"
Sorry, don't class as near the coast - 2 hours drive tim, really close to the coastal bubble then.

"Thank goodness we all chose a fantastic location away from the concrete jungles"
Pleasant location, shame no properties?

"would  like someone to confirm with facts and not some wishful thinking."
In the main, looking in the wrong place for facts here. Daydreamers only please.

"Why don't you call your agent and Pilar etc and ask what is the proportion of purchasers"
That is one of the same members of staff that didn't even know the financial difficulties of their employers, until everybody else did. Bet they have all facts at their fingertips. Even if they did, would you believe it, should you believe it/

Preferably with properties on if that is what you paid for.
Pick the most wonderful location in the world and it is no good as a holiday home without a property.
Concrete jungle - 10,000 properties on one site. In UK there would be outcry.

Hola Tony,

Whilst visiting SADM, on many occasions I have seen Spanish Estate Agents with Spanish clients, I would think possibly there would be a good percentage of Spanish purchasers maybe 25% to 50%.

Kind Regards,

Vanessa

I have personally seen the creditors list as Martin at Abolex had it with him when he held a meeting at our house.  About 45% of purchasers are Spanish and no I dont know any of them.

Hola todos,  On the occasions I have been to SADM  I only met both British and Irish buyers. I would not trust the figures supplied by Agents or San Jose as they would spin the best possible scenario  to suit their needs. The figure  from the Agent of 25% to 5o% has a variance of 100 %.
I believe a true figure could be found from the Creditors List, and Linda Needam's comments are helpful. I am grateful to her.
Muchos gracias.
