We are thinking about having satellite tv  installed when we go over at the end of this month. Anyone want to share the cost, rather than having an excessive number of dishes all over the place?

Regards.

Hi Jo & Steve.
We are in block 5 so I'm afraid that's no use to you but you've made a very good point and got us thinking.  Perhaps those of us in Block 5 could also get together - we don't want it to end up looking like 'Satelite City!' so  we would certainly be up for sharing the cost of a communal dish.  It makes sense to start talking about it now before everyone starts doing their 'own thing'.

Hi
We also want sky, however I was told by Gemma Garcia that we were not allowed to install dishes until a commitee of owners had been set up and agreed it. There were apparently problems on other Al andalus sites concerning this. She thought the likelihood was that it would be agreed as mostly English and Irish have bought properties. If it wasn't though you would have to remove it. We are still waiting for our NIE's via the Spanish consulate (14 weeks!) but are buying in block 5.

Hi Maud.
In a way, that's good to know, at least people won't be  all doing 'their own thing'.  14 wks seems an awfully long time to be waiting for your NIE numbers. Hope you don't have to wait too much longer.   When are you hoping to complete and where in Block 5 are you?
I wonder when the Community committee will get going....it's all very exciting and very new!!!!!
Best wishes,
Pauline & Noel

Hi All

On Thalassa, people started completing in June last year but our first community meeting only took place on the 8th March this year.

In the rules that Km will provide you with when you complete, it will state no satellite dishes to be installed.

However, we found that due to the very long delay in getting the community set up many people have "done their own thing" & installed dishes, some discreetly others totally without discretion.

Our second community meeting in June agreed that there could be one dish per block which could take up to 12 feeds. Now the challenge begins, as those blocks where there are more than one dish will have to have any additional dishes removed.

Regards

Noreen

Hi Tricia.
Yes, it will also depend on cost for us, but hopefully it won't be too much if it's shared. Thanks for the advice Noreen re. the community meeting.  As we will only be out there for relatively short spells at this stage, having Sky is not 'critical' to us so we would be happy to wait a while.  But if there are people who are actually going to be virtually living in their apartments, I can see that they might be tempted to 'jump the gun'.
I suppose a sensible thing to do would be to try and get/keep in touch with as many as we can on Veranda in the hope that we can co-ordinate everything to the advantage of all conerned.
The trouble is, I guess not everyone is connected via EOS.
Looking forward to going out next week - fingers crossed all will be complete and we'll be able to stay in our apartment.
Best wishes,
Pauline & Noel

Hope all goes well for you next week Pauline and Noel...sure you sooooooo exicited. I have just come back from the bank and have transferred our funds over to solicitors account, so shouldnt be too long now....
Like you it wouldnt be urgent for us to get sky, as we will be only out every now and then,  but if it was reasonable, we would defintly have a look at it.
Best of luck, Tricia and Anthony

Hi All.

As most of you know we are ground floor in block 5. Satellite dishes are already being put up on the complex. One was being erected in June whilst we were out there. We have looked at the cost factor and the price of the dish and box is a one off payment of 590 euros. This is a one off payment and you can receive over 350 British TV and radio channels with no monthly subscription. Visit this web site europa-digital . com  (sorry can't post full web address as not made 10 postings) for  information. Obviously you will need a digi-box in each apartment but we  can share the cost of the dish. I have spoke to Dave Baxter about sorting this out, if anybody is interested in arranging satellite can I suggest e-mailing Dave and once he has a list of apartments that require satellite he can obtain full costings.

Regards

This was a post i put on the Thalassa site several weeks ago - it may or may not help you with the true costing - we have a duplex.

Europa were cheaper for installation when i called around - but they seemed to be very evasive when asking how much cabling was needed - which we thought a little strange as they told us they fit our style blocks all the time.

Our installation quotation was 195.00euros inc. 15m cable,  we were then charged an extra 71.00euros for cable - the 15m is nowhere near enough.  The 2 apartments who joined our 4 were then charged and extra 30.00euros for internal trunking.

This did not include the sky box we used an old one from home - they wanted to charge 299.00euros for that and even the engineer who installed it said that was very expensive you could get one cheaper in UK.  Our old uk sky box works ok and we get all the free to air channels no problem.

For four to share the cost was nearer 300.00euros than the 195.00euros quoted - we did not taken out a contract so now have no monthly payments.

Although a bit pricier than we thought, it works well and we enjoy it when we are there.

Hi everyone,

We are at Veranda right now having completed last Thursday the 10th.  Hooray !! We are really pleased with mostly everything and there was only one small hitch on the day of completion (which I wont go into on this thread) so everything went pretty smoothly.

We have looked into the Satellite dish situation a little and it is right that you shouldn't just get them installed until it has been agreed by all residents.  It stipulates in your Keymare pack that you must not get a dish installed without it being agreed by the comittee.  We would be interested in sharing the cost with the block (we are in block 5) as we really don't wish for dishes to be put up left right and centre, it would ruin  the look of the building.

Dave is coming back this week to finish some jobs for us so we will speak to him then to advise we are interested.

Helen
