Hi all,
We had a note from CAM last week confirming the mortgage offer and they referred to two additional charges (over and above the mortgage charges) - I'm inserting the exact paragraph below. We also have to take out their life insurance but we are still waiting for a quote on that.
'It is important for you to know that as long as your account with us has been already opened, we need to pay the Certificate of non residency that I told you before (around 20 € for each holder) and also we have needed to apply on your behalf for a Nota simple to the Land Registry for preparing your mortgage (around 20 € more). It informs us about the main details of the property that you are buying.'
They hadn't mentioned these charges before but at least they are quite low!

Hi paulhill308, just to let you know CAM tried to sell us their life insurance as well implying it was a condition of the mortgage. I told them we already had life insurance and didn't want it so they backed down straight away! So, if you don't want or need it you don't have to take it. Although, I do remember they might knock the odd 0.1% off the mortgage rate if you take out more products with them.

Thanks for this Tim, I knew they couldn't force you to have their building insurance but have dropped a note to our solicitors asking about the life insurance. Have they asked to see a copy of your current life assurance?
Regards
Paul

HI Paul
They sent me stipulations for all that, but I said I already had Life/House ins and they didnt even ask to see any of the policys so dont worry just tell them that you have all in place, I said I was taking Zurich policy through Polaris and they didnt ask for proof.

You are all fortunate to be hearing from CAM Bank. I sent my documents back in March and I am still waiting to hear whether I have a mortgage. Despite numerous calls and emails, all I have been told is that I will hear soon.
So tell me guys, what's your secret?

We sent our paperwork back on 8th May. and 10 days later I emailed asking if they had been received (because we discovered that the 'signing' for the paperwork isnt worth the money you pay because you have to write to the post office to find out who signed! you cant trace that on the internet) No rwesponse for another week despite another email. Finally I telephone and 'Yes' they had our documents but I couldnt speak to Eva, who'd done all the initial emailing, a colleague told us we needed to send some further things they hadnt asked for. I firmly believe if we hadnt actually got someone on that call we'd still be waiting.
We send the other information about mid june and from then on had no response to emails and managed to get through twice to different people who said our applicaton was in process. Finally emailed again and said if they didnt respond we'd be on holiday and unable to deal with anything. Phoned the next day and was told it had been agreed but we'd get confirmation this week- which we have, but our confirmation with a couple of questions has brought no response. What a painful process !!

Turning up on the doorstep seems to have the desired effect.
They told me that there are only three people with the necessary skills to deal with all the applications, which is rather a lot. They also said that if they answered al the e-mails it would take all day and they wouldn't be able to process anything.
Keep trying, it'll happen eventually!

Probably cos of the stress ha ha ha ...... I know what you mean though they do leave everything to last minute, I think it was poor Debbie (Payton) that was left within hours of completing before they confirmed approval with her. If they couldnt cope why did they offer to handle builders mortgage....surely they knew from the offset how many they were dealing with.
Anyways just glad its all over and wish all of the ones that have not completed yet the best of luck.

I needed to ring CAM last week to check the monthly repayment following our completion in June. We had dealt with Marissa but I was told that she was on holiday and Eva had left. The person I spoke to said she had only been there one week - she then proceeded to tell me that my mortgage had been approved and my completion date was for the following week!!!
I very calmly pointed out to her that I knew my mortgage had been approved and we had actually completed two weeks ago - in response to which I was put on hold for about ten minutes!!! I then spoke to a gentleman (didn't get his name as I was worried about the phone bill by that time!) who finally answered my queries!
Good luck to all of you in your dealings with CAM Bank. It was actually Bancaja that didn't confirm our mortgage for one apartment until the eleventh hour - our dealings with CAM Bank were pretty smooth although I think we were lucky and got in early as we were in the first week of completions.
It sure is a painful process!
Debbie
