Spain and its beauty but.....

For anyone that wants to swap locks ( Once all their snagging work etc is finished ) and haven't anyone to swap with or would rather get a new one anyway - On HR forum someone posted that they have purchased the lock with 5 keys and security code for cutting more from a shop in Succina for 17 euros - I don't know if our locks are the same as HR, but someone said they took the barrel with them to the shop and they already knew which one was needed, apparently these locks only take about 10min and a phillips screwdriver to change

Hi Phil - Yes, sorry, one says it's a place called Ferrobox, on the main street, opposite Frankie & Loise @ the traffic lights - Another says its the electrical shop which is a couple of doors down from the tobacconist - They think it may be the same shop

Phil - you may actually think it's too far to go, it's about 6km away from San Javier, so it's nearer to La Torre than us, but as we nearly always visit La Torre when we're over, it's no prob for us. Never been to Sucina but heard it's a very nice place, so will go have a look when we're over again

Whilst out in Spain I went to the shop in Succina (Ferrobox) that sells locks. I took with me a key so they would know the make and type of lock I was after, he looked at the key and informed me that he doesn’t stock that type of lock and as it is a security lock it would be expensive to buy. So this isn’t the lock mentioned on the other forum for 17 euros.

Whilst in Campersol “A”  I visited the Hardware shop their and the young man in the shop who speaks very good English informed me they would be able to get this sort of lock for the apartments on Condado but they will probably cost about 100 euros for lock and 5 keys. So if possible I would look for someone to swap with.

I hadn't actually thought about changing the locks after moving in...but some of you have got me thinking now.
I'd appreciate people's views on whether this is necessary (or is just a best practice precaution).
By bthe way, there are some very tough sounding, not to be messed with women on this forum - (Glasgow kissers and ones who can sort out PW "Customer Service" staff, for starters. Maybe I should just put the word around that I'll send the girls round, if there are any would be thieves about!

We're staying in Condado between 11-18 January and would be keen to swap locks with anyone who is around at that time. Hubby is a DIY dodo so it would be good if we could swap with someone who knows whats they're doing!

Not sure if swopping locks works as well as discussed- it is something we'd consider. But, in the summer we stayed at La Torre and asked our apartment property manager and he said many people had tried to do this at la Torre but it wasnt as straight forward as it sounds and often peole found the locks didnt refit smoothly and they'd had to have them refitted to the original doors. He couldnt say why there was a problem only that they didnt line up as easily as people expected.
