hi paul,
we are on jardin 2 complete september 9th cann't wait,
noticed you asking about recessed spots, there was a gentleman who on a earlier thread that said he had fitted this type of lighting, but expressed his reservations that he may of not got enough light for the appartment but after fitting said that he reckoned there was enough from them, i think he said he had bought them from ikea for about 3 for 10 euros, now whether you can get better ones with a greater wattage not sure ? if you search through earlier threads you may come across it and could pm him,
regards nige and ann

Thanks Shampers and Nige, will take a look at both options.
Nige, are you going to Spain to do your completion? We are going to be out there from September 6th - 16th so if you are around it would be good to meet and say hello. What number are you in Jardin 2?
Paul

Hi Nige and Ann,
You are our next door but 2 neighbours - we are in J200 - the owners of 202 (Geoff) and 204 (Harvey and Jo) are also on this forum so it looks like the roof terraces on our side of the Jardin are almost all accounted for.
We completed by poa on July 29th but haven't been to the site since March this year when we went out to look at the show homes so we are really excited about getting out there in September to furnish etc. We sorted out some furniture which will be delivered at the end of the week but still have loads to do. We are going to be staying there from the 6th - 16th September - beds sorted and hope to have rest of furniture sorted during the stay. Have air con going in on 9th when we are there. Lights and fridge are next on the list hence our query about the recessed lights.
Hopefully we will see you out there when you come to do your snagging on Monday - pop round for a beer, hopefully we'll have a fridge by then!!!
Good Luck and hope it all goes well
Paul & Michelle

Paul,
Think that was my post being referred too. I fitted spots in the bedrooms and bathrooms, but they can be fitted anywhere. They are very easy to fit, most just need a small hole cut in the plasterboard ceiling - a good knife will do it, then they clip into place. If you are not happy doing it yourself then previous posts have mentioned a handyman, who charges a very reasonable rate.
Spots are available from IKEA (€10 for 3), but also most of the large supermarkets have lighting.

hi ted,
glad you spotted my comment to paul, because were thinking of putting in recessed spot lights also, they sound pretty easy to fit, but were any transformers needed, would you say enough light would be given off these to put them in the living area, how many in this area ? actually i suppose, if not , we could suplement the light with lamps anyway, cheers

Hi Ted,
What did you do with the wires hanging down from the ceilings to fit normal lights to? Did you isolate and plaster over them?
Just thought I'd ask.
Regards
Alison

The lights from IKEA are fitted to allow connection in bathrooms (sealed connection box) - but are also fine for other areas. I think they are fine for light, but sure that you can get brighter ones. The rooms have the following fittings (2 bed)
Lounge 2
Dining Area 1
Kitchen 1
Hallway 1
Bathroom 2
Bedrooms 2 each
The lights at IKEA come in sets of three, there are no transformers required, but if you do get low voltage ones there is plenty of space in the ceiling recess for transformers.
As for wiring and fitting. Cut a round hole 70mm diameter where the wires come through the ceiling. There are 3 wires to connect, then push the remaining wire back into the ceiling recess, the lights simply push into the whole and have springs to hold them.
Just be careful cutting the holes that you do not rip the plaster on the ceiling and leave any marks.
Good luck all, hope this helps.
Ted

Hi all,
As we now seem to have cleared all the hurdles of banks, mortgages ( finally) and even habitation certificates( !!!) we look like we are now possibly completing next week, so like many of you guys we are thinking about furnishing, lighting etc. Does anybody know if the ceilings in the apartments are (a) high enough and (b) have sufficient fixings for a ceiling fan with lights?
