I know this is not strictly about Condado but I thought it may be of interest as many of us are  flying in and out of San Javier.

When we flew back home from San Javier in July there were a load of people carrying out a "Survey" regarding San Javier Allicante and the new airport. There was a free draw if you took part for a 7 day holiday for 4 people to "anywhere in Europe" .

This week I have been pestered by a company calling from the telephone number 01268557600, which if you try to call it back is unobtainable. Out of curiousity I answered the call this morning to be told that I had won this prize. I was given another 0800 number to call to claim my holiday. I asked the lady who had called me the name of her company which is CLC Resorts and Hotels. On checking this appears to be a timeshare company.

Has anyone else "won" and been contacted by these people. I guess there is always a chance it is genuine, but this is unlikely .

Hi Phil

This is a common way for the timeshare or holiday club industry to promote this type of holidaying, if they are a reputable company, which some of them are not, then it can be a cheap week away. The format is usually a survey, or entered into a draw, and hay presto you have won. The usual intention is to provide you a free??? or cheap holiday with the condition that during your stay you attend a presentation about joining the club at a cost or buying timeshare. I own timeshare and I am a great believer in it, as long as it is quality property on a quality resort, which often the ones sold in this way are not. We have been to numerous pleases around the World using our Timeshare always 5*  but buying it is costly if done the wrong way and disasterus if you own it in the wrong place. So in answer to your question I would think lots of people who fit the profile they will have been looking for will have won, key questions are usually do you have a credit card are you married, and do you own your own house. If you don’t fully understand the concept Don’t get involved, which I don’t suppose you had intended to do anyway.

Regards

Phil

This has happened to us some time ago. To get the 'holiday' we had to go to an evening presentation at a hotel in Manchester. The 'holiday' was restricted to certain times of the year and we had to get ourselves to and from the resort. By that I mean buy our own flights and transport, there was no food in the prize either. As the dates excluded school holidays times we wouldnt have been able to make use of it even if we had considered going. They were also quite pushy and tried several more times to persuade us to accept the offer after we had told them we weren't interested. Really they are just supplying 'room only' at off peak times when the resorts are quiet.

We also attended a presentation in Madeira, during a holiday, having been quite impressed by the accomodation on offer and the island. This was well managed- a quick group tour of one of the 'flagship' developments and a brief verbal presentation, with facts and figures- then we were asked if we were interested and if not we were guided to a reception room for coffee and a slide show (to further persuade us) and were free to leave immediatley or go back to the original room where a bit more info was being handed out. Anyone who was interested was then taken off on individual tours of the premises to see the different style of rooms and locations on offer. This didnt feel 'hard sell' at all but the Manchester option did.

Hi all,
We are getting these kind of free holidays all the time especially via email.   We have actually been on one of these, we had to go to London had a quick interview and then got free flights and accommodation to Fuengirola Costa Del Sol.  Food not included. Stipulation was to go there and listen to the gumph for 2 hours.
When we arrived at malaga we were transferred by taxi to the resort  which the apartment was a 2 storey with views of the sea very comfy.  After being their for 3 days we were taken early to the on site restaraunt to have breakfast.   Then we were shown around various appts and then taken to a conference centre asked many questions then it went past the time.     So I asked the guy "How long is this going to take" He was nice till then and replied YOU ONLY CAME HERE FOR THE FREE HOLIDAY, I AM GOING TO BAN YOUR NAME FROM THE INTERNET SO YOU DON'T EVER GET A FREE HOLIDAY AGAIN!
I was so shocked and walked out with my daughter  and went back to the appt.
On the coach we learned that some people who had already signed up last year were promised luxury holidays with their points which is what you buy,  and when they went to book them up all they were given was the place we were already staying at.
So the moral of all this is "you do not get anything for nothing these days only a Bogoff in a supermarket,  unless you got all the time in the world and you do not sign anything then have a "free" holiday.      But we knew we were going to buy one somewhere, and that somewhere is "JARDINES DE ALHAMA"

Hi Ruth Peter & Krystal,

I absolutely agree you rarely get something for nothing.
I made the posting as a warning more than anything as they used the tactic of a survey regarding the new airport.

We bought at Condado because we wanted too and in fairness to PW there was never any pressure whatsoever.

Very Happy with our purchase in Jardines 9
