Hi Everyone,

Just got back from Ikea in the UK and we were surprised at the cost of beds ( Double Divan bed £620) I felt this was steep and just wondered where everyone else had sourced beds from in Spain.  I would like to purchase quality as I am planning on renting out and don't want roll together within a matter of months. Can anyone assist.

Regards
Alison & Simon

We bought beds in Spain when we were over in July.  Yes, they are expensive....we paid 360euros for a king size that was just the base and mattress.  They all seem to come in separate parts, headboard, mattress, base so you can mix and match.  I wanted a storage divan until I saw the price!!! so I decided I don't need storage and will have somewhere to put my suitcases under the bed instead.
I think ours is good quality and hopefully comfy  5 mins lying down in a shop is not the same as a full night is it?

hi Karen,
Thanks for replying, please could you let me know where you got it from as we considered a King size but after allowing for 2 bedside tables we didn't think there would be enough room left to get into the wardrobe, is this the case?

Regards
Alison

I am also looking for quality in the bed department, as my bed is just so important, and my pillows even moreso (£30 each in the UK my pillows, latex, so never lose shape, hypoallergenic etc)..............

You spend a 1/3rd of your life in bed so more important than a car IMHO........... I'll be taking my own pillows from the UK therefore.

Forget the headboard, €360 for base and mattress is good value, headboard not needed anyway. I bought a kingsize for my lad in Feb, bought it off Tesco website for £310 in the sale............. an absolute bargain after trawling various shops and other websites after Xmas, just took 4 hours to build it

Measurements i had of the main bedroom was that a kingsize would fit easily, and as sliding wardrobe doors then not a large amount of space required, my main concern being Bed3 and whether you can get 2 singles in there, hence why i won't make any furniture decisions till I'm over with my tape measure and all seeing eye.

Key is beds and comfort of them, not size of bedside cabinet or the space between wardrobes/bed.

Nothing worse than a crap hotel bed and the nights sleep that follows (or doesn't) !

I can be serious you know

we have a 2 bed apartment and the kingsize bed fit quite easily with 2 bed side cupboards, the 2nd bedroom is having 2 3ft singles and 1 table between.
We bought them at Castor in San Javier, they were really helpful and have a good choice of furniture, it's a small shop but they can get lots of different colours sizes etc of everything.  If you need their details let me know.  They include delivery and installation in the price.

Hi karen,

Castors details would be much appreciated. When you have to purchase for a whole house every saving we can make helps.  It also means we'll have more to spend in the watering hole.

Hi Ali,
We found this shop by accident and were impressed with the furniture on sale.  They also do furniture packs, they were very helpful and spoke good English.  They deliver and install too.  It's on the same road as Decathlon in the centre of San Javier.

We have bought a 3 bed apartment and were thinking of bunk beds for the third bedroom - no one seems to talk about doing this - any particular reason why?? Also does anyone know how the furniture shops operate over in Spain - can you buy and take home the same day for beds?

Thanks
Nicky

Hi Nicky

I bought 80cm canguros for 3rd Bedroom, which can be put together to make double bed, which you will room for. I don't want drunken golfers fallen from the top bunk lol!

We ordered all our furniture this week.

We went for 4 X 80cm singles.  We were told that Polaris used 80cm beds in the showhouses to give the appearance of more space.

HI

where did you end up buying your beds from.  We're on Los Naranjos which is going to start completion in the next few months taking me a bit by surprise.  Need to do some research as I probably won't be out again before we complete.

Cheers P

For all those thinking about renting out:-
A thought to bear in mind when maximising bedding in a 3 bedroom apartment - do 6 golfers (or anyone else come to that) really want to be sharing one bathroom ?? It will take an eternity to get themselves 'tarted up' for a night out and I wouldn't fancy being the last one in on a morning after a collective night on the guiness the night before !!
I certainly would not book a party any bigger than 4 into a 3 bedroom because there just ain't enough space to be comfortable.

Regards,

Hi

We spent 12 days out in Murcia doing the spanish wills, NIEs,  completion and furniture buying.

We had said we would not go for a furniture pack, but after driving round the world, (2100 KMs in 12 days), we eventually got all from DFS in San Javier and Ikea in Murcia.  DFS fit lights and install all furniture and appliances.   We paid 30% deposit.  Takes a few weeks especially in August for orders to come through. They will collect  the key from Polaris and hopefully all will be in place when we walk through the door again in October.

The big stores Al Campo and Eroski do absolutely everything you would need to kit the place but trying to arrange a delivery date might be a problem if you are on a tight schedule.

Have to say I agree with Will about the space issue - I know it's a personal thing but I would hate to be in our 3 bed with 5 other adults, men or women
