The ceilings are about 1cm think plasterboard, they support the light fittings, but think you may need some form of reinforcement for a ceiling fan. I may be wrong, haven't tried to fit one, but just my thoughts from having fitted the lights.

Hi wiredout
the ceilings are high enough but there are more ceiling points than would be expected , eg 2 in each bedroom, which means 1 fan close to the wall or wardrobe & 1 light, which would look odd. I've been told it's possible to try to move the fan towards the centre, but extra cost of course

We'd like to know if anyone has moved the light fittings in the 2 bed bedrooms for a centre fan. We wanted fans for these rooms but the position of the lights makes them too near the wardrobe and window and odd if you just fit 1 anyway- we think, but could live with it if there turned out to be room
We asked the rep who went around during the snagging but she wasnt very helpful only saying she wasnt sure about the support for a fan. So if anyone has done this or is getting it done could they advise please?

Hi Kazzy
Can you just remind me did you say you have ordered all your lights from illucom, and they are fitting them before you go out there? Because I'm still pondering the best way of doing this??
ps can you speak quietly please as my pre celibration drinks last night are telling me a different story this morning.
It was fun at the time!

Jackie, I'll whisper then...
yes they are installing the lights and shower screen on the 12th Sept before we arrive. On their website you chose which lights you want and where to have them, then submit the form. They send the invoice with the total ammount. I paid 25% over the phone then pay the rest after installation.
I think the prices would have been a bit cheaper to buy myself, but it is more convienient this way,(didn't fancy being in the dark for a while)waiting for Mark to blow something up!! and installation is definetely cheaper than UK.
I'm sure they will explain everthing if you ring them, Leanne is English so no problem with translation.
They are very good and answered all my questions about spotlight/fans etc. I decided on quite plain lights and a standing fan in the end.

Hi Kazzy,
We are Completing on a penthouse apartment in Nov, and interested in the discussion on light fittings etc. Where are illucom based. Do ou know if they have a shop / showroom or are they just web based.
Thanks

Just before we order lights, has anyone else been told we have to have POlaris lights for the outside of the property. WE had this from the POlaris rep who came to the property with us for the snagging and from Trevor from Snagit Murcia. However we havent had anything official from Polaris.

Our snagging rep said no, we don't have to have Polaris lights for outside - there's so much conflicting information flying around !
As for our lights, this is what we have done up to now. I bought 6 ceiling batten fittings from Wilkinsons at 79p each, and took them over in my suitcase with 6 energy saving bulbs. The bulbs were free as they came from my electricity supplier recently. I fitted them last week, very easy to do. So we now have lighting in all rooms, and we can get the proper fittings at our leisure and concentrate on other things first.

Thanks for that Chris/Alison. During the conversation there was a brief mention of the community of owners making this decision but I dint quite follow that as there isnt a community of owners yet is there. We did wonder if it was an informal rumour by Polaris in order to get some uniformity in the outside lights- but without anything official we'll ignore it.

Hi Jan & Mike,
By the time PW have handed over the site to the community everyone will have bought their outside lights. I will not be going out to buy more if PW decide we all need to have the same lights, the only thing I could suggest is take note of the lights outside the showhouses and buy lights that look like them, this way we will not be far off. Hope this helps.

Yes we'd thought along those lines. I was only wondering if anyone else had the same info at the snagging. It appears not, in fact it sounds like only Mike and I were given this information. Although the rep did invite us back to the office to look at what Polaris had to offer, which is what makes this seem a real request. By the time we got back she was busy elsewhere though. We're probably going for a carriage light design anyway as we've seen them on other Polaris resorts and they look good against the white facia, not sure yet. Cant see how anyone could be made to change the lighting anyway, if they wanted uniform they should have stuck with the terracota covers they had on the show apartments.

Thanks Dringman.
I had been told tht the 2 lights in the lounge are quite near to the walls - is this the case or did you get ilucom to move one/ both. Also what sort of price did he charge to move & fit lights per unit ?
regards,
leyton
