Hi

Has anyone found a good option to receive english channels.  Rang Sky and they said it was illegal to receive their channels in Spain?  Need to keep the children busy and dvds won't last forever.

In reality they wouldn't, but I guess technicially you would be breaking thier terms and conditions.

The in-laws have a box in thier caravan that works fine in Spain, and there's a large number of suppliers out there that are happy to sell you a system.   I intend to get a sky/freesat box for the apartment, but not until PW have connected us up to their satellite receiver system, when ever that may be

I'm fairly sure that I read somewhere recently that European law had changed and you can now legally receive free-to-air channels be satellite anywhere in Europe, though broadcasting restictions still apply to pay channels.

Hi all
A down side to having a dish for Sky installed will definately be the size. As far as Im aware there is a low signal pocket in the Murcia region meaning you would need a dish of 2.4m to guarantee a signal. Lesser sizes would get some sort of signal but it might keep cutting out

Hi,

A 1.2m dish will pick up the signal in normal weather conditions without a problem. You may lose it temporarily in a heavy thunderstorm but apart from that it'll fine. A 2.4m dish is IMO an overkill.

Murcia is unfortunately in one of the 'black holes' in Spain where the BBC is at its weakest, signal- wise, check this link, there are others saying similar
