Days out from Roda

For those looking to explore some of the local region, I can highly recommend a trip out to the Sierra Espuna, south west of Murcia.

Courtesy of Maggie and Dennis of Roda FM we were invited to join them on a fact finding mission for their clients.

We headed inland stopping at Hacienda Del Alamo, an impressive resort and clubhouse for coffee before reaching Alhama at the foot of the National Park. From here the road is very narrow and winding, so take care, but the views and scenery are stunning though the temperature drops sharply near the top. You then descend into Aledo and the nearby Monastery of Santa Eulalia which is now both a museum and classy hotel serving excellent value lunches.

We took a small detour on the return journey to visit the site of the proposed airport, though there were a number a portakabins present is was difficult to say that much progress has been made, though the local press recently suggested the project is still on schedule.

Not far from here is the resort of Corvera whick still looks a little desolate. A number of apartment blocks could be seen in the distance but the golf course is still just an outline, perhaps the summer will bring grass growth.

Back to Roda in time for D and M to visit some of their clients, all in all it was a great day out, many thanks

last summer we drove up to Terra Mitica, just outside Benedorm.

took us about 1.5 hrs.

Great day out especially with kids as theres loads of rollercoasters/ rides etc.

remember to keep ticket from toll just outside benedorm as you get a discout at gate on admission.

plenty to do there fo a full day out.

another good day out is

Terra Natural in Murcia.

maybe 1hrs drive heading straight for Murcia, where you will pick up signs and see it on the right.

you can buy entry tickets which take in the zoo and waterpark

full day out anf great for kids again.

For those into Spas, especially as we do not yet have one at Roda, there is the Thalasso Spa next to the hotel Between San Pedro and Lo Pagan but als recently opend is Punta Calera Spa at Los Narejos, straight over two roundabouts from Roda past Fitzers and next to the tennis courts and open air pool. The facility consists of 34 degree heated water pools with a variety of high pressure jets and jacuzzis as well as a mixture of showers and steam rooms. Price per entry is 10 euros. There is also an upstairs cafe restaurant.

A very relaxing and restful experience.

Haven't done it yet but quite fancy a day trip to some of the local wineries at Jumilla and Yecla. If antone has done it and has any recommendations would love to hear them.
