Dear All,
I am sorry to say that Paul Newman (Vice President) has today resigned from the committee. He feels that his responsibilities with running the bar are not compatible with being a committee member and we must obviously respect his views.
This presents us with an ideal opportunity to give all owners / residents a chance to have their say as to who should make up the committee and to be updated first hand as to the current situation. To do this properly it is essential that those not resident are also given the facts and a vote where possible PLUS SUFFICIENT NOTICE OF THE MEETING.
There are those who feel that a panic meeting should be called immediately, however as we are also told that there is still a minimum of 30 days, and probably longer, before any actual transfer of the Entity can take place, your current elected committee would prefer to do it properly with you able to make the decisions well within that time scale.
AN OFFICIAL MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE AT NEW YORK'S BAR -WAS HAPPY DAYS (To be confirmed) ON MONDAY 2/3/09 AT 11.00 AM
THE AGENDA WILL CONSIST OF:
1. UPDATE FROM REPRESENTATIVE OF GRUPO MED. ( aka PENTAGENO) - who have been asked to attend by copy of this email - regarding their progress, with the entity transfer.
2. RESIGNATION OF THE ENTIRE EXISTING COMMITTEE - This gives you the chance to decide whether we have your confidence or not.
3. RE-ELECTION / REPLACEMENT OF COMMITTEE -
Would existing committee members please advise me whether or not you wish to stand for re-election.
If anyone else wishes to stand , or nominate somebody else (please get their agreement first) please give me the name of the person, their house number and contact details.
Please submit answers / suggestions by 20th February 2009 so I can circulate the names of the candidates and allow for email / proxy votes.
4. ANY OTHER BUSINESS - Please remember that this can only be about matters covered by the entity (transfer of charges for power and water supplies to ourselves and general infrastructure of the site and so on) we cannot include or help with problems regarding mortgages, embargos or build quality, these need to be dealt with by your legal advisors.
PLEASE NOTE: This is your committee and whether you vote for existing members or alternative ones is entirely up to you - BUT DO VOTE AND ATTEND IF AT ALL POSSIBLE - whoever forms the new committee will need to know that they have your whole hearted support.
If you know of anybody who may not have got this email, please let them know about the meeting so that they too can attend.
I know some of you are already aware of the background here but, for those who are not, this situation has apparently come about because:
Somebody allegedly has "complained to the Town Hall regarding the the water pump and cables across the roads" . No name has been given, no date of the visit has been stated and no further details of the complaints have been supplied.
For reasons unexplained the committee has been blamed for this alleged action despite any such visit not being either authorised or, to the best of my knowledge, undertaken by any member of the committee.
We are told, as usual by a series of second hand rumours and threats, that there is a risk that water and power could be cut off presumably, as a result of these visits. Hopefully, this is untrue and just rumours and, of course, such action remains illegal as well as, rather obviously, unfair to everyone. We can only hope that good sense will prevail and that after further consideration it will be recognised that disconnection benefits no one and can only increase a flood of complaints rather than stem them.
It also appears that "such visits to the Town Hall may well slow the process down". Personally, I cannot really understand why this should be so, but as this advice comes from our administrators we should all obviously bear this in mind if tempted, as individuals, to make complaints now which perhaps could better wait until after the entity transfer.
A very few people, for reasons known only to themselves, have chosen to use this to spread dissension and distrust of the existing committee - all members work on a purely voluntary basis - and to question our efforts to date. Naturally, I assume that they will be prepared to offer themselves for election at the forthcoming meeting rather than criticise from the sidelines.
Finally, I note that someone has chosen to put contact details of Carolina on Eye on Spain stating that she should be contacted in the event of problems with electricity. I have no idea of the identity of the person who posted this but it was certainly neither authorised nor correct. Neither Carolina, nor any other committee member, has any control over supply - the entity has still not been handed over.
Currently the only people responsible for the electricity (and water) supply are the staff at El Trampolin and all enquiries can only be dealt with by them.
This will also be posted on Eye of Spain for those not yet on our email list.
Best wishes and apologies for going for so long - but you have all asked to be kept informed!
Paul Leno
