Know what everyone is saying about lack of facilities but this always was a 10 year project which whilst ahead of the game has now probably stretched out to 20 years. As for PW then yes they can be seriously infuriating amongst other choice phrases but i still believe what we have got for our money is top class value - the place looks fantastic, sit back and compare what you have in the UK compared to what you have out there.
Anyway......................
Caravan park in North Wales (had one for 20 years, caravan, not the park itself) had well er just caravans and crap weather. But used to have BBQs (outside the van), beers in the fridge and kids running round the grass areas doing what kids do (annoying parents usually), loads of people got to know each other and became annual friends, shared a beer, food, laughter and the odd wife when things got boring, am sure CDA will be similar
When i stop in hotels i expect a swimming pool, bar, and a bit of entertainment, but usually after 1 night at said expensive bar with 'local' dancing and fire eating entertainment (usually includes some sweaty prat trying to get me to join in with some Hungarian folk dance when said sweaty is from Milton Keynes) then its off a wandering to find something different, and as for kids then they just want to chill with other kids, (whatever we think they don't play football, tennis etc in searing heat for 6 hours a night, tho loads will want to use the pool till 10 every night), lean on walls, look moody, whisper as us oldies pass by (i was a kid once you little buggers, I know what you said) and generally say ''WE'RE BORED, WHATEVA !''
CDA during the day in summer = swimming pool and nowt else (just like any other resort) - it'll be too hot to do anything else, locally you've loads of great beaches and a water park, once you hit evening then it's a choice between sitting out on your terrace eating your own home cooked food and drinking your own choice of drinks at reasonable prices with neighbours popping round to join you, drink your beer, eat your food, criticise your uncomfy garden furniture, bitch about some other neighbours and them in Jardin 8 (sic) then leave you to wash up before returning the following night.
Maybe one day we'll have some nice restaurants/pubs on site where they'll serve warm Amstel at €4 for 2/3rds of a pint after 30mins wait along with some expensive, undercooked, tasteless food which we'll put up with just to watch a live footy match that we wouldn't have watched if we were back at home.
You could of course drive to Mazzaron, sit out at the beautiful harbour front and watch the world go by with some decent vfm food and a much better view....... and stay sober for a night (yes i know its a challenge for me, but it's even worse not being able to drink on the plane coming over) knowing you can get ratted the following night sat in your chills overlooking the gardens whilst fighting off the mozzies.
Golf, there are loads of local courses within an hour's drive, CDA would only ever be a base for golfers.
Somehow don't think the lack of tennis, paddleball, gym, indoor pool, golf course, restaurant, pubs, sky tv, internet, Macdonalds & Pizza Hut will bother me - I could get all that back here via my all inclusive £140 monthly Council Tax, £130 a month gas/lecky and £40 a month water rates, but i do get my swimming pool and manicured gardens included in that - oooopps dreaming again.
Glass more than half full, about to have my 4th hols at CDA since October, 2 more already booked and have thoroughly enjoyed em all, party on the 26th or 27th of this month at mine again, or is someone else volunteering this time ?
Once we get the golf course, it will be the tatty clubhouse, once we get the bars it will be the price/service, once we get the restaurants it will be the price/service/bad prawn, once we get the gym it'll be broken water fountain/dripping shower, what we've got is bloody great and compared to what I've got in England and what i have to pay for it then i know which place i look forwards to stopping in most.
