Hi, so it seems the ceiling to floor measurement of the apartments in Naranjos are 250 cm. On my various trips to Carrefour, Eroski, Don Bricolage etc it seems that Spanish curtains come for father taller rooms, like  265 cm.

So just wondered if anybody found shorter ready made curtains or has had them shortened?

Cheers, Ian

Hi Ian

Try Yorkshire Linen in Mazzaron - that's where we ended up getting our living room curtains - we got the rest in the UK. You're right - most of the curtains do seem to be longer than needed but we found some nice ones that were just right there. We've posted some pics under the Naranjos thread (ref 87865) - you can't see how long they are but you get the idea. They also have some nice tie backs and accessories.

Hi Ian,

If you don't want to spend too much on curtains then Ikea ones are good. They are all long but come with a 'kit' inside to shorten. All you do is cut them to the right length then use an iron on strip to turn up the hem - all pretty simple as long as you have some decent scissors. I found that if you cut them just below floor length they pool ever so slightly and then you don't notice if the bottoms are not exactly straight plus often they hang behind a settee or behind the bed anyway -  all very easy to do so don't be nervous of messing up.

Hope that helps

Hi Ian,

We also bought curtains from Ikea, they do come with wundaweb, but they also sell a little kit which cost 5.99 Euros, this was well worth it,it contained  scissors, tape measure, needles cotton etc, but was just good to keep in the apartment afterwards. We found this worked well for us, although I have to admit I was nervous about making a mess of the curtains, I just took my time measured carefully and tucked the hem in so that it doesn't have a raw edege and  am really pleased with them.

Good luck,

Diane and John

Hi,

We bought ours from DFS in San Javier (see www dfs spain com) - they put the poles up, hung the curtains we had chosen & made them to measure exactly the right length and all at a reasonable price.

Hi All

Does anybody have the size of the front patio doors in the ground floor appts in the Jardins ??  We are hopefully going to get some curtains made in the Uk so we can put them up when we are out there in May to furnish.

We need something up there as this is without a shutter.

We a also looking into the shutters to be fitted on the patio doors. We would install them ourselves, has anybody done this yet ??

Many thanks

alison & mark

Hi Alison

Having made several pairs of curtains for these apartments I can tell you the front patio door actual window size is width 1.90m and height 2.15m.

These do tend to vary slightly. I tend to set my poles 10-15cm above the frame so depending on the type of curtains you are having you can work it

out from there. I have seen shutters on a front patio door , next time i´m up there I will get the number for you.

Hope this helps

KInd regards Lesley
