FOOTBALL NEWS.

Went to watch The Arsenal play at Villarreal on Tuesday. The town is not very big and neither is The Madrigal Stadium which only holds about 23,000 people and is a far cry from The Emirates Stadium.

Great atmosphere though and a great goal by Adebayor. The 1 - 1 result was excellent as we can take an away goal with us for the second leg at The Emirates. We now have a good chance [fingers crossed] to make the semi-finals.

Come on you Gunners!!!!!

Hi Bob,

 We appear to have one thing in common.......Arsenal........ I was in Spain last week and the bars all had the Man U game on.

But 3 - 0 was a good result & lets hope that we beat Chelsea this afternoon.

Saw the 3-0 in La Zenia and the bar had both matches on at the same time with various screens.

Would love us to make the final but with so many defensive injuries at the moment, i am not as confident as with Villarreal.

Chelsea must be favourites but we often do well when we are not. A lot will depend on how Fabregas and Walcott perform, so i am crossing everything today.

As i said too many defenders injured at the moment. Hence, Silvestre a drop out from Man U was left gasping as Drogba left him standing. The 19 year old Gibbs actually did not do too badly. Fortunately, by the time we play Man U in the first leg of the ECL, people like, Gallas, Sagna, Clichy, Almunia will probably be available, as all of them were only expected to be out of action for 2-3 weeks.

I watched the match this afternoon & it was good to have Almunia back & Fabergas scoring again. I am looking forward to the match against MU and I hope that they play well and tighten up the defence.

It would be great to have an Arsenal v Barca final. Perhaps we could make up for the Paris result.

Sagna is fit again at right back. Hopefully either Clichy or Gallas or both maybe available. Really hope that Silvestre is NOT playing.

A score draw, or win will be great and even no more than a 1-0 defeat will also be alright. Really fancy our chances over 2 legs.

Well what can I say........hmmmm not quite the result we would of hoped for but all is not lost.

Perhaps we can turn it around at the home game.

Amunia was probably the only one on form , the rest of them seemed to be on another planet.

Sounds silly but what a GREAT result for the arsenal. Why? Because we should have been dead and buried now and should have lost 3-4 nil at Least and be OUT of the competition. If i were a united supporter i would be pig sick. It was one of the worst performances i have ever seen from The Arsenal and the first time i have ever seen any team go a whole match without having a corner. Yes think back, we never had one corner and you can only get a corner by attacking and being in the oppositions penalty area.

Now the PLUS. Can we play as bad again at the Emirates in front of 50,000 plus home supporters, i hope not and i think not.

Score an early goal and someones bottom will be twitching and it wont be ours.

I think we can pull off a great victory and am still very much upbeat, especially as i said before, we should be OUT NOW!!

 I tottaly agree with you.......wohhhhh what is happening here, te he!  We were so lucky to only loose 1 -0  & I have heard on the news that Van Persie may be fit for the match.....fingers crossed.

As for Chelsea and Barca, well the way Barca destroyed Real Madrid,if Aresenal get through, I would prefere for us to play Chelsea.
