just back from another great trip but ........

got locked in the bathroom - no reason other than some sort of fault with lock and it wouldn't open from the outside either.

was able to jimmy it with a kitchen knife in the end and was thanking my lucky stars we're on the end of a block so had a window through which it could be passed and which in the worst case I could escape out off,  but what if it happened on  a Friday evening and/or if it was a kid inside !!!!

To their credit Polaris sent someone really quickly and the two guys sorted it in a jiff (new lock).

Subsequently heard we were the third in our vicinity to suffer this problem so would be worried others are or will suffer the same problem - it won't be funny if someone (especially a child) gets locked in there and people are having to break doors down -

Anyone else out there heard of same issue ?

Hi Carol,

I too got locked in the bathroom, much to everyones amusement, but thankfully I wasn't alone and someone was able to open it from the outside after a bit of a struggle.  I thought it was my fault so glad to hear someone else has had same problem, doesn't make me feel quite so daft!

You are right it could be a real danger if  you are alone or a child gets locked in.

I locked it (as you normally would) but then when on unlocking and opening the handle would not move the bar when you pushed it down. Can't really explain it other than that but when I did get out and we tested it again the door would close and then without putting the lock on would not open again which is really worrying if you have kids ! The whole purpsoe of the little screw on the outside is to act as a failsafe if this occurs but it was compeltely useless in this case.

Thinking about it the safest measure would be to have a sliding bar lock put on which is not the presttiest thing but may be the best if you were afraid off getting yourself (or your kids) locked in.

Hi Carol

Same thing happened to us when we were out over Easter for a week, but it was the second bedroom we had trouble with.

Our daughter's boyfriend was stuck in the bedroom for over half an hour.  We tried everything to get him out and in the end he managed to get himself out with a credit card.  We were concerned  because he has epileptic fits, and the stress of being locked in the bedroom could have brought one on.  Only problem is that the credit card will only work from the inside. We had to wedge the door open for the rest of the week because if it had closed and nobody was in the bedroom we couldn't have opened the door.

We contacted Polaris that same day and heard nothing from them until we were back last week.

Pam
