We put a lock from one of the DIY stores onto one of the doors on the double wardrobe in one of the spare wardrobes so we can rent out and leave our stuff locked away. It means renters still have the other half of the wardrobe.

Hi,
Please tell me if I am being stupid but if you have only locked one side of the Wardrobe whats to stop them climbing in and removing/using your stuff. Would it not be better if you had some sort of lockable compartment.
If I was a renter I would not be too happy that for a family of four I would only have one wardrobe. I could easily fill one wardbrobe by myself if I was renting for a fortnight. Just my thoughts.

Hi, have you seen the size of the top of the wardrobe, they'd have to be pretty slim and very small to climb through that? We only locked one side of the wardrobe which means that renters can use the whole other side of the wardrobe in one bedroom and a full wardrobe in another of the bedrooms. We felt that was plenty of storage space for renters considering we've managed to cram most of our stuff into only one half of the wardrobe and we are definetly not minimal packers! A locked cabinet would take up just as much room. It worked for us.
