Best UK bank accounts for cash withdrawal in Spain?

Dear all,

I have read various messages on the general forum about the best UK account for cash withdrawals etc. whilst in spain is the NATIONWIDE FLEX ACCOUNT since they don't charge comission and give the best exchange rate on the day?

However, you can now only open one of these accounts if you do so as your main banking account as of beginning of June.

We don't really want to have to change all our banking, DDs, standing orders etc etc. over just to have this FLEX account to use ocassionally when we are in spain.

Does anyone know of any other account with another bank that they could recommend? Santander said they don't have anything similar at the moment as we have enquired with them this morning.

What do other people use?

(We have opened our spanish account in Sangonera la verde with BANCO DE VALENCIA.)

Halifax Espana  but means you would have to travel to Los Alcazaras to go to your branch. Branch manageress (Jo) is brilliant. Means can do cheap money movement from UK to Spain if have account at both ends. Good for renting as cleints can pay into uk account etc etc.

we to used banco halifax in los alcazares -  and found them to be very helpful.

it also makes transfering money from your uk account to spannish account online very easy.
