I have been looking at the De Vere site( see roda link) and it would appear that De Vere may or may not have a hotel at Corvera-they are only committed to Roda.Does anyone have any further info??

I beleive that DeVere have been given the first option for the hotel on Corvera. They will take up this option based on the success at Roda. If not then I beleive Corvera will accept bids from other hotel chains

Hi. I have contacted MRI with my concerns over the possibility that De Vere may not end up running the hotel and golf facilities at Corvera. Their response was to say that in the end it may be a positive thing, which I must confess I do not entirely disagree with. They point out that should De Vere run both Roda and Corvera their client base would be shared between 2 complexes within a fairly close proximity. On the downside however I cannot think of a bigger name in this field than De Vere, which is was one of the main reasons why I chose Corvera. I have also contacted my lawyer asking what the situation would be in spanish law, should De Vere not take up their option to manage Corvera, with regard to the developer claiming that the facility would be run by De Vere before they had in fact put pen to paper agreeing to do so. I have been waiting almost a week for a reply.

Hmmm......
That's a bit upsetting.
My sales rep told me that De Vere were going to be running the Hotel at Corverra and that gave me a big confidence boost.
Now it appears they may not be running the Hotel.
I'm begining to wonder what else he has or has not told me??
Maybe it's time to pull the plug on that first 15% payment and ask for the €3,000 deposit back! I must confess to not being pleased at having to pay for an air con unit which I expected to be standard fit for €285,000!
Regards, Jetjockey.

Welcome aboard Jetjockey!
We too were told that it was 99% likely that De Vere would run the hotel and resort and indeed gave us confidence in buying at Corvera.
From research I have done, De Vere have the rights to first refusal so to speak at Corvera and now that the PGA have got involved and are making Corvera their European Headquarters and Training Academy I really can't see how they won't take up that option. The De Vere Belfry is the PGA UK Headquarters, I think the De Vere brand has seen a huge potential in golf business in the Murcia region particularly with the future International Airport, which incidently regarding your other thread, again we were told that the flights would not go over Corvera. More to do with the close proximity of the Military Airport the other side of the mountains I think.
We have bought a frontline 2 Bed Tilo apartment on Phase 1 and can't wait for it to be finished! We also look forward to seeing some European Tour events at Corvera in years to come! Also the 2018 European venue for the Ryder Cup is still to be announced....what do you reckon? The De Vere have a vote on the Ryder Cup board you know! .....We go back over in May and obviously will post any photos on the forum. Good luck with your purchase, hope it all goes smoothly.

Hi Samanthas.
That's encouraging. Our sales rep (Welsh lad who seems to be a decent guy) is convinced that Corvera in THE resort with the biggest potential over the coming years. He has assured us that we will see a large increase in the value of the property over a 5 year period. He argues that compared to other developements, and other ready built properties, Corvera is the one that "ticks all the boxes". After some rather searching questions from myself regarding the problems with re sales in Spain, he says that he cannot see this being a problem at Corvera.
I hope that he is right. We have purchased as an investment or future pension so I hope that I am not wasting my money. If all that is promised comes to pass, such as the Hotel, the European Golf Headquarters and the new Airport then I am sure that we will be quids in. But with the De Vere hotel group already not 100% commited to the project then I am a little worried...................... I have made very good profits on British property in the past but Spain is an unknown quantity to me.

Hi Sam
There was some info on this forum earlier this month under PGA, but also if you do a Google search using the words Caliidona and PGA, quite a few articles come up, mostly saying the same thing re the association with the four Calidona projects including Corvera and the PGA. All positive stuff and not all from Real Estate Agents!

Cheers Warren, always nice to hear good news from independent sources. I've yet to hear a bad word about the golf courses in Roda or Corvera from independent reports, which is always a great sign.
We did extensive research all around Europe (with Montenegro and Tavira in the Algarve both serious contenders) and Cape Verde another serious contender, before choosing Corvera, because of the climate, quality of golf course (big issue with me, not so much with the wife), and most importantly the accessability via 2 airports (soon to be 3) to fly into. The whole package, including the location e.g. mountain views, quality of buildings, surrounding town of Corvera and closeness to Murcia and the possibility of getting a lot of the costs back via lettings made Corvera look the best choice. All these reports only add to my opinion we went for the right place.
