Polaris have just released beach apartments on La Manga Strip. Is this where the luxury villas and beach club were supposed to be?

Hi Lisa

I believe they are;

Located close to the Polaris World Beach Club at Arenales del Mar Menor the Polaris World beach apartments are just a few metres from the beach and next to a nature reseve.

I have just received an email from PW info department with the following link:

Has anyone visited the Beach Club yet? If so what is there, also is there a charge to get in.

Also am I better driving to LaTorre or MMGR then getting on the bus, or driving straight to the beach resort?

Darren,

If it were me, I'd drive straight there as you're in control of your own timings then.  We went out to the marina at the far end of the La Manga strip a few times recently which is just minutes away from the PBC area and it only takes around 40 minutes to get to.

We really love the La Manga strip, there's a great buzz about the place and some really nice restaurants & bars too.

Cheers, Julian.

I drove through La manga in April, was the most depressing place I have ever seen in Spain & for  those of you have met me know I am no snob, it was like stuck in a time warp, a ghost town, derilect apartments, graffiti and boarded up shops every where, half of the complex's are half finished, could not believe what I saw, the whole place needs pulling down imho.

I must agree with Dan.  I was there last Easter and again this Easter and found it to be a really dismal experience both times.  There is no 'heart' to the place - like a central plaza or something - just a big long stretch of land full of tacky souvenir shops and bars.  As well as the aforementioned derelict buildings and graffiti etc.  A short run up to La Manga Club at Los Belones is probably worth it - if only to gawp at the gorgeous villas there.  You can also do a bit of celeb-spotting if you fancy too!

I would, however, say it's worth a look at the strip - if only to say you've been there, done that, got the (over-priced and gaudy) T-Shirt.................??

Dan,

I went there in February and struggled to find a restaurant or bar open as most places close down out of season,  It is very much a summer season only kind of place. If you were to go there of an evening now it's heaving and there's still people on the beach having BBQ's late into the evening.

Took me 45 minutes just to get back along the strip itself on a Friday night a few weeks back just because of the volume of traffic and people around.

Drove up/down the La Manga strip in 2007, and don't plan to do it again - horrible place. Love Los Alcazares though.

Have to agree with you there folks. Tacky, soul-less, not worth the effort of the drive. Don't write off the strip entirely though, because a visit to La Manga club (not technically the strip) will give you an insight into what Polaris have modelled the concept of Condado around. You can not fail to be impressed. Stay on the road a little longer and just before you bend round into the land of the 'kiss me quick kiosk's, you will come to a place called Cabo de Pallos. This is a lovely quaint place with a bustling marina and nice retaurants. Nice walk to the lighthouse on the headland and a great beach of fine white sand (Los Alcazares style)backs onto the edge of the town.

Probably worth bearing in mind that although the buildings and general feel of the drive along the strip is not very comforting, the beaches on the Med' sde of the strip are quite nice.

Regards,
