FREE INSURANCE

apparently the builders are giving free buildings and contents insurance on all props for one year from completion. i wasn't told this at completion so have paid an unnecessary £200 to halifax espana.

halifax espana is a good account to open, as if you open or have an english halifax account, transfers are free and almost instant.

Where is the nearest branch of Halifax España? Is it Murcia city? We opened our account with Banco de Valencia simply because we needed an account and this was closest bank (Sangonera La Verde) recommended by builders as they bank there so I guess they thought transactions between us to them would be quick.

However, since discovering about all the charges to obtain our debit cards etc etc and probably more account fees as charged by most spanish banks for non native customers, we are thinking of changing.

Someone else on the EOS forum has also recommended Barclays - see recent posts on the main general forum.

Anyone got any other suggestions for FREE banking?
