Furniture Stores

Hi all

We are due over next week to complete on Los Naranjos Jardin 4 & will be having a hectic time of furniture shopping. Can anyone give us addresses or co-ordinates for satnav of any furniture stores, Leroy Merlin etc? Seem to recall there are quite afew stores near the Murcia Ikea store. Much appreciated.

We got a furniture package from Murcia Furniture, there on the C3319 not far from the Polaris World Head Office, towards Murcia.

Ikea is also good for bits and pieces, but bought nearly all our bedding, cushions, pillows etc from home as found it quite expensive for household goods in spain.  It took us ages driving around getting everything when we completed last August.  To be honest weve only just finished and still get the odd bits to get so dont be disheartened if it takes you a while.  Other alternative would be to buy here and take over in a van.  Ikea is very doof though for majority of things.  We bought a fab settee from there at a great price.  Wicker Patio furniture and sun loungers we got from Carrefour (large Hypermarket) do all sorts of stuff.  We know of one in Torre and Cartagena.

I have heard bad things about Murcia Furniture and you might do well to avoid them. There is a really good company called Puerto Mobil on the way into Mazzaron on the left. They do whole furniture packages or anything you want. I think one of the staff members actually lives on Condado somewhere. We bought all our lighting and bathroom fan and they fitted for free. Very reliable and helpful. Prices to suit all budgets but do haggle.

There is also a MAKRO in Murcia if you are an English member just show your card and they will give you a day pass. You will need a van to transport stuff.

Warning - be very careful with furniture suppliers as there are many sharks out there and that is why some Brits now buy in the UK and transport out themselves.

We had a relatively limited budget so did alot of driving and didnt go with a pack but it was a blast finding evrything.

Try DFS in San Javier- they have a website so you can google them.

We found Polaris Homestyle were relatively competitive for us when you buy individual pieces rather than a pack

Gines Navarro on the road to Mazarron is good for all kinds of bits and pieces and theres a large garden cente next door that has great outdoor furniture.

Plumes4furniture in Mazarron has a good range of furniture and a bargain basment that has furniture, lamps, pictures.

It just depends if you want a pack or not but we also found Real Domestics( google for site) to be very good for all the kitchen appliances- competitve prices and delivered, fitted and removed the packaging. Quite quick delivery and staff speaking english.

IKEA's good for blinds and curtains and bits and pieces for the kitchen but so are alot of the supermarkets and Leroy Merlin

After all that you need to stop or you'll have to move some of the furniture out onto the terrace just so you can get in the apartment!

I've to say that I'm very impressed with DFS in San Javier, Murcia.  Ask for Paul Airey as he is very helpful in all ways. I'd sent him a lot of emails prior to ordering, asking him a lot of questions & he had sent me details & pictures of any items I enquired. He even ordered a bed for me prior to arriving in Spain so that I would have a bed on the 1st day I moved in to my villa. Normally they won't order any furniture before hand.

When I wanted to exchange the 2 wooden shelves for the TV unit instead of glass, Paul exchanged them without  questions asked at no extra cost. He also gave me a good discounts for all my items I bought & delivery is fantastics as the men are very helpful & friendly too.

I would highly recommend DFS for furniture. It's worth a trip there furnishing your properties.
