Hi all
Just completed on Los Naranjos Garden 4 & are hoping to go out again end of November.
I need some advice on fitting the lights & extractor. I believe the ceiling is suspended on a metal system. Does anyone know the size of the void between the plasterboard & concrete above? I need an approx dimension to know how deep the collar on the extractor can be. Also, what type of fixings to use for light fittings as I woudnt think a standard rawlplug would be of much use. Maybe a screw-in platerboard fixing?
Many thanx in advance
Don

plenty room in the void, and plenty of spare wire, you can work at arms lenght then just shove the cable back in the void, no need for balancing on steps while you are sipping your pint, also plenty room in the bathroom void for your extractor, just takes a bit of messing around to get the electric cable to the fan, but it does go,just plod on,
on the lights, if your fitting spots make sure you check where the metal framework is prior to cutting the hole? and standard plugs will be fine if your using small lights, best of luck,
ps turn the leccy off

Hi All,
First post so forgive me for sounding silly and for asking daft questions in the coming weeks.
Just purchased a 2 bed apartment in Jardine 2 and wondered if the ceiling was the same here with plasterboard on a metal frame, as looking to fit ceiling roses when I get there.
Also are the walls, stud walls or plaster bricks?
Any advise from lessons learned also greatly appreciated.

Hi Marshmanand welcome to the forum & Condado,
Don't apologies, we were all there at some point, asking what we thought were silly questions but if you don't ask you'll never find out. An extractor in my opinion is a must. We got Steve to fit ours so that when we switch on the light above the mirror the fan comes on as well, I must say it is brilliant and certainly does the trick. Don't know with regards construction of ceiling but no doubt some smart cookie will and will advise you asap.
Good luck with everything and please feel free to ask as many silly questions as you like, I am still doing it.

marshman,
ceilings: platerboard and metal frames, also plenty of room in voids
walls: very soft concrete/block, very easy to drill so dont use hammer, use good plugs for mirrors etc,
have a nice 3 days doing all the DIY, mines done,
best of luck, see you in the bar or on the course when it opens, ant
