The 2010 AGM is only 5 or so weeks away.  One of the agenda items that will require the vote of the owners will be the election of the community presidents for 2010.   Is your garden/block currently represented?  Do you believe your current president is doing a good job? Do you know who they are? Have they kept you informed? If you do not believe they have, then you should replace them, why let them continue if you, the owners, are not satisfied?  Would you like to stand for election, the majority of owners are english, but there are few english presidents?  Some of the current presidents have said that they will not be standing for re-election this year so replacements are required.  Any owner. resident or not, can be elected president, all that is required is the dedication to put in the time and effort to help run the community and to keep your graden/block owners informed of community affairs.

There is a form on the community website where you can look at the list of those standing for election, and nominate yourself if you wish.   It is not a requirement that nominations are registered prior to the AGM, on the day anyone can stand for election, this is simply a method of indicating those that are willing to stand.  

If you are unable to attend the AGM in person, then you can vote by proxy by nominating a third party to vote on you behalf on the day.  As per last year,  forms will be available for you to complete and send to your proxy to vote for you.  I will post the forms as soon as they are available.

As I understood it last year Polaris became defacto Presidents of many of the penthouse blocks and some other gardens as they still owned the majority of properties and voted for themselves.

I was interested if this was likely this time around or if Polaris has had to offload ownership onto 3rd parties as part of their restructuring.  I'm assuming this will need to be confirmed before voting happens.

Hi Shane,

Nope.  The only reason Polaris held the presidency of the penthouses is because no one came forward last May to stand for presidency of thier block so they nominated themselves by default.  At the time Polaris owned the majority of apartments in all the gardens so could of cleared the board if they had wanted to, but didn't as they - quite rightly wanted the community run by the owners.    As you say, this year Polaris own very few if any of the apartments, but if still no one comes forward they will go unrepresented.    Under the HPA if no one volunteers then it is within the law for the administartor to simply nominate an owner who would then have no choice in the matter, but obviously it is better to have a volunteer who is interested in working for the betterment of the community than a pressed man/woman.

So please, if you are an owner in the penthouses and can spare the time, volunteer.  As I have said below, the majority of owners are english speaking but we have very few presidents.

Phil  - I would be happy to volunteer to cover Penthouse Block 16  -  does it matter that I only get out for a few weeks a year ?

• Naranjos II (Penthouse bloques from 8 to 16 and Naranjos from 1 to 6): 23th of January 2016 in the afternoon
• Jardines de Alhama I (Jardines from 1 to 5): 30th of January 2016 in the morning
• Jardines de Alhama II (Jardines from 7 to13): 30th of January 2016 in the afternoon
• La Isla : 6th of February 2016 in the morning
