Think we all came to the same conclusions, pigs, flies and smells all go hand in hand and there's very little we can do about it, thought there were talks of PW buying this pig farmer out but cant see that happening now. Unfortuntely thats what we get for living in the countryside, fresh air and country smells.

pig farms and countryside do not go together at all,it is not the smell of the countryside but the smell of raw s##t
its in the minutes of the precedent's meeting last march i think or sometime last year a risk assessment was to be carried out
alhama council was involved
something to do with condado being so close that it could be a heath risk

Is there a smell- not trying to be difficult here as I have visited the resort at this time of year and didnt notice a smell?
Is it more prevalant down the Al Kasar end? Is this as a result of the farmer that wont be persuaded by PW to sell up and went to court to prove his right to stay on the land- if so dare say we'll be stuck with the smell ( if it exists)
As for the flies they are a problem in the local area- this land was fruit groves 'for ever' , and so fruit flies are not just a Condado problem and have nothing to do with 'the smell'. I asked about this one afternoon last year at Kennelly's and the bar staff told me they always have alot of flies at this time of year.
tomgeorge you raised this previously and others advised you that my information was correct.

i am not talking about fruit flies two things check previous meetings about the subject and then get your nose checked
do you need to turn everything in to a pointless exercise, i am trying to find out about issues that concern me and others
so just because you got no problem dose not mean there is no problem, thanks for your input

The last we heard re the pig farm
was that the owner`s solicitor had stated that as the pig farm had been there long before Condado was even thought off
He was entitled to stay put if he wanted to & I believe that he wants to stay
As his argument is a good one I must say that I would agrre with him.
Maybe Polaris didnt offer a very good incentive or as we were told, the offer was a very good one but he still wated to stay.& who
can blame him.
I woud`nt want any to come to my home & request we move for a newcommer builder

Think you are correct Jan although I do think it went to Court and it was ruled in the farmers favour that his family had had the land for generations and therefore did not have to sell and there was no right of compulsory purchase by Polaris World. Disappointing for us all if there is a genuine problem as a result of the farm being there- though not for the farmer as its his livlihood. I'm not even sure of the locaion of this farm but thought it was way over to the left of La Isla. I was at CdA for week 15th June last year and didnt notice a 'smell' but regular visitors or residents may well have more to add to that. However, I did notice the flies in a big way and later saw a thread were people were asking for the best method of dealing with them I also asked at Kennelly's because there was an equal problem when sitting out to eat there, so not just a CdA problem. Apparently they last about a month at this level and are one of the reasons so many people had fly screens fitted but no-one could come up with a foolproof way of dealing with them.. If it isnt fruit flies are the problem then maybe a contact with Polaris wouldnt go amiss as they may be able to use that if there's an infestation of a diferent species.

Hello again
We have noticed the smell on a few occasions but I know it may sound strange when I say you get used to it & tend not to notice it after the first day, Of course wind direction may have a lot to do with it.
I`m sure there is a joke in that last line but cannot think of one right now.
We saw a lot of flies late june last year & they did become a nuisance, they as they were quite small We presumed they were the fruit flies
We soon realised that the spanish ate later than we did & so we had our outdoor evening meals later too & guess what. no flies

the pigs are kept by the entrance to condado ,as you drive up to the sign its on you left
there are many around the area but this is the main one for condado the pigs are kept in housing equivalent to battery chickens
and not let out ,i am positive that the alhama counsel thought it was a heath risk
if the farm is a heath risk someone is in the wrong be it Polaris planning ? the community presidents must know what was said,if you go to the community web site its on there somewhere( march or last year) i think it says what was to be done ,nothing as yet so just wanted to know it this problem as move on or brushed under the carpet once again
i think it was to do with the close proximity to condado, if you look around when you are out driving you will see that we are closer than other urbanization's to this type of farm (this is nothing to do with fruit flies )

Tom,
I though I was "Down with the kids" and knew what all these abbriviations stood for, but that one stumped me!
I have done a google search and it can mean "Social Media Marketing", "Standard Method of mearurement", "System Management Mode", "Shareware Music Machine" or "Science Museum of Minosota".
Not sure which one you are though?
