Visiting Murcia city

We haven't yet visited the city of Murcia (well, we got as far as El Cortes Inglis, by car, and after a tour of the store retreated back to the resort) and hope to go by train next week. When we get off the train where should we head for?

Head north towards the river for the main sights of Murcia plus the city centre shopping area, which are on the other side.  Don't miss the Cathedral, the Casino (you pay to go in however you can get an audio guide in English, which friends told us was very interesting), and the many plazas.  Look out for the Ayuntamiento once you cross the bridge: the Cathedral is just behind it, plus there is a tourist office on the plaza where you can get a map and a city guide in English.

I am planning to do a write up of Murcia for my blog, but depending on when you go it may not be written in time!

Any more questions, I will try and answer them, though we are in the UK until Tuesday.

Sorry  Jann, I cannot email you, I'm having problems with my laptop!!!  So glad you are going to venture on the train  !!  When I went on the train we came out of the station , we crossed the road and right in front of you there is  a little booth where they sell maps!! Great map!  Which then you  soon realise you have to keep going straight up the main road, and just keep going because you will land up at the river.  Once you are at the river you can get your bearing!   I can't wait to go back again!  I've been once and there so much I'd like to go back and see again!  Great little squares you'll find selling great tapa's!!
