Indeed Jann, they have until December the 2nd to complete the purchase at the agreed price. No point in them buying the land now until it's known if the investment to complete the purchase and build the Park can be found in the first place. It's perfectly normal and sensible business parcatice and shouldn't be seen as a negative sign.

I dont think its being scaled down I think we are just seeing the first phases. I note the information only talks about Hotels at the moment and the original information has also said residential accomodation so the long term plan is for other properties. However, it would be sensible for them to test the market. Several articles I have read have been talking of the Paramount Park being advertised as a 'short break' haven and therefore Hotels meet the bill there and hopefully developments such as ours can benefit from those holiday makers who want to include the Park in the their annual two week holiday. I have commented on another thread about my concerns that CdA could become a location just for workers on the site rather than holiday makers in the short term and it might make it difficult to make the transition back to holiday resort- but I still hang on to the hope that Paramount is the golden goose so many are hoping for although I expect 4-5 years down the line.

no no no it's not being scaled down, they only need 1.7m sq mtrs rather than 6m so that means there is plenty of room for Universal Studios and Disney to build their theme parks and then the fantasy will be complete, with road from the roundabout all the way down to Mazzaron built up with hotels, motels, golf courses, fast food outlets etc - you can just picture it can't you ? Mazzaron will be the new Benidorm and in just a couple of years too !

Its to be done in phases , this news just shows that that due diligence has been done with expectations and the current market. Investors have been on the sidelines from early on, we have known that for a long time, though now they have to produce the goods. Costs have dropped to 700 mill/800 million from 3 billion, so all more realistic. Cant imagine anyone really thought 6 million acres of real estate was going to be built in one fell swoop in the current financial market. Whatever they build in theme park terms it will bring jobs and tourists. All this was actually on ABC news mid week so they are really getting promotion in the wider public domain.
I think they just had to talk big at the start to get media interest.

too right, anyone that can't see it is deluded ! I'm going to open a KFC in the old sales office on the Condado ring road as all that carparking is going to be used as over-spill for Paramount, Universal and Disney on busy days - GET IN THERE !

KFC-- think you'd do a good trade; especially as I think you've hit on another little earner- park at CdA and get bussed to the new Paramount Park! I think PW might just get in on that one!!! Although as the owners pay for the ring road maybe it's a little business development for ML bringing in an income to CdA.

And the next post will be from someone complaining about the litter or smell caused by my KFC outlet. TQM, I'll have my solicitor get the partnership agreement straight over to you, before someone else gets in on the act !

700 - 800 million euro's - not much when the new Wembley stadium and the London Dome cost more than that each in sterling. Very much scaled down from the 6 million M2 originally needed.
it will soon be small enough to fit in the waste ground car park at Campasol, they won't have to take the "buy the land option" either................ and just as close by.
Always looking on the brighter side of life.

I reckon the best thing the investors could do is create a European Las Vegas. If it worked in the middle of the Nevada desert then it could work in the Murcian region. Europe has no such gambling capital and I, although not a gambler, had one of the best holidays ever in Vegas (mainly down to my mis-spent student loan whilst at uni - ) whilst only spending $5 a day gambling. The best entertainment ever!!!

Had you heard about this Arlene?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/8331398/Las-Vegas-Sands-plans-15bn-gambling-hub-in-Spain.html
The financial news early this morning on BBC also commented that Spain's present position is better than expected even given the crash of the property market and there are no longer immediate concerns that they would follow Ireland into a financial abyss.

Jan,
Great news. Didn't this news warrant another thread;
Condado de Vegas................?
Vegas de Alhama...................?
We should be able to whip up some hysteria over this one!

Ha can you imagine! There's now a thread on the main forum about this story though.
Given the angst the threads with 'Paramount' in the title can manage to generate I didn't think it wise to start one suggesting 'A Vegas strip in Spain' was next on the list!

I know it has nothing to do with Murcia but it did have reference to Arlene's post and also to the fact that investment is still at least being discussed for Spain. Which in the light of the potential Theme Park is good news.
