Dont know about insurance covering extra cost they all say one thing and mean another when you claim, however last year when the ash cloud struck most people who had a hire car were allowed to keep them but they had to go back to the point of collection (Airport) and take out new contract so you cant phone and extend.

The unions achieved a preliminary agreement with AENA

The desconvocatoria of the strike is pending ratification of the federations of the three unions and workers' assemblies

The unions CCOO, UGT and the USO in AENA, conveners of the 22 days of strikes at airports in the coming months, arrived this morning to a preliminary agreement with the company that submitted a referendum to decide the desconvocatoria of arrests. The representatives of three unions, representing 85% of the staff of AENA, reached an agreement with AENA to help prevent the strike, after a marathon session of nearly 17 hours.
The desconvocatoria of the strike is pending ratification of the three union federations, and then from the workers' assemblies to be held in mid to late next week. Secretary of State for Transport, Isaiah Táboas, welcomed the draft agreement reached, after which the tourism sector and citizens can be confident that they can travel during Easter and summer.
Táboas explained that the novelty is that the draft agreement includes AENA will be on the board of directors of the future concession of the airports of Madrid (Barajas) and Barcelona (El Prat). This question has never been defined until now because it was a hypothesis that was working the Ministry of Development and has finally materialized in the negotiations, he said.
According to unions, the agreement in principle revolves around the main assumptions which ensure the viability AENA all through a manager's direct involvement in all societies, the maintenance of all jobs, and conditions and application of collective agreements in all possible scenarios that may arise from the new airport management model.
The new airport model
Thus, the V collective agreement the employees of the company will become the first, with a term until 2018 - the new airport company AENA, the subsidiaries can be established and shall apply to the concessionaire. Táboas indicated that, if ratified by workers, the draft agreement will call off the strike and said it was good for workers and also great for AENA, the government, because it allows a path for the development of new airport model.
The President of AENA, Juan Ignacio Lema, coincided with Táboas to indicate that the preliminary agreement is good for workers because it strengthens their rights and also for the company because it can move forward in a spirit of dialogue and understanding, transport reform Spain air. However, the union explained that the draft agreement reached does not mean you support the privatization of AENA with which they disagree and do not share.
The tentative agreement comes after the first meeting between the committee and AENA strike last week was not achieved to reconcile the views. On Monday, the negotiations took a positive turn with the intervention of the Ministry of Development and the incorporation of Táboas in the negotiation and a new document, which included major changes compared to the previous proposal by AENA, according to unions.
