Getting from alhama to alicante airport by train and or bus?

Has anyone made the journey to/from alhama to alicante airport by public transport yet.

If so what was the experience like/frequency of the service/cost?

Hi Paul

Made only as far as Murcia by train and I really don't think you will get directly to Alicante. Cost - really cheap, only 2.20 euros one way, but freequency, better don't ask. I think it's every 2-3 hours, always 11 minutes past, better check before you will go.

Nice carts, air con, clean, not overcrowded.

Never tried by bus so cannot comment

Never done it but, we bumped into an English couple on the platform at Murcia station who were on route to Alicante airport by train. They swore by it and it was cheap as well.  The trains are superb in Spain, clean and air conditioned and run exactly to time.

Worth trying as you can get direct from Alhama station to Alicante Airport with only one train change so I believe - worth checking on the Renfe website.

 Train from Alhama to Murcia, the Murcia to Alicnte (Main Terminus) dont get of at small station by the sea.

From Alicante station walk to Bus Station 500-600 mtrs  from there there is a dedicated Bus to the Airport cheap.

trains leave Alhama every hour at 11mins past the hour and return from Murcia at 15 mins to the hour (Dont know Alicante times) beware last train from Murcia is about 9 ish (check)

Alos if you want to go further From Alicante there is a Tram to Benidorm 3,85 € for a 1 hour 10 min journey over 45kms the tram is about 300 mtrs from Alicante station and at Benidorm walking didtance of the opld town,

Thanks for that. I appreciate that I have asked this question before but it was some time ago and i had hoped someone may have tried the journey by now.

 Paul yes it was Mick I have done the Alhama - Alicante several times and the tram to Benidorm but not the Bus Alicante - Airport 

I forgot to say when you travel to Alicante there is a 10 min + or - wait when changing trains.

Alicante to Alhama there is approx 30 min wait (time for a beer or coffeee in station cafe)

Alos forgot to say the trains are very punctual.

The train to Alicante is slower than driving but cheap and less stressful. Takes about 1.5 hrs going 2 coming back.

Alicante Terninus is quite large (Half size London Waterloo) and also has a Information shop where you can get help in English and maps of the city etc.

Right outside the Terminus across the road is a big shopping centre which includes En Corte Ingles Dept store

The last time I asked we werent sure how far it is from the bus stop/terminus in Murcia to the railway station as the bus appears a good option from Alicante Airport to Murica?

Anyone have any experience?
