Never one to post a thread on the forum as I advertise on it and never want to be accused of using the forum against the rules.
However I must lend my support to Phil. He works from home, so what! Would you criticise anybody in the UK for working from home? It’s a legal form of doing business is it not?
Phil spends much more time working for the community for free than earning a living from his home. If you are not happy with the job he is doing as president then speak to him, but do not criticise his need to make a living, which by the way is also serving the community.

Has anyone investigated how much buying in water to fill the lake will cost- just so we have a ball park figure?
Can't see how helpful it is to be shouting about who is to blame (if anyone) we just have to move forward. Poor communication seems most likely but I doubt that our Presidents are genuinely culprits of anything.

Thats a heck of a lot of money if we have to keep topping up regularly. I see that the rainwater collection is now directed into the lake so that should help but wont be sufficient. All around Spain you see resevoirs on farm land but it sounds like our lake is only lined as a garden pond might be and so it leaks.
I see ML have sent messages saying the system is back on for now.
I note that there's a post critising the use of a Presidents apartment as a place of business I don't feel thats a fair comment as many people on CdA run their business's from their apartments and its common practice

So Tony, are you saying it's fine that people sell goods and services from their apartments, whilst others rent commercial premises and pay all the taxes that keep the country going?

Looking at the Geographical Maps around the CDA area it would apear that there is an abundance of underground springs rivers in the locality
Has anyone thought of exploring the option of sinking a well within the confides of CDA and concecting to the irrigation system/lake.This will obviously have an initial set up charge etc but looking at the estimates for refilling the lake I am sure it would pay for itself relativly quickly.

I am thinking of moving to Condado de Alhama and starting a small business. Can someone tell me where the rule is that says you can’t run a small business from your home?
I understand you can’t convert your home to a commercial premise or have signs on your property but I don’t know where is says you can’t have a home office?

Oh dear,I meant nothing more than it's not unusual for people to run business's from their apartments -or villa's for that matter. As for paying taxes everyone should be registered properly I've no argument with that. Isn't the rule that you shouldn't run a commercial business- like a garage or car repair business, food preparation, carpenters, machinist etc rather than a business that just needs a home ofice set up. No doubt someone will now quote chapter and verse.
Like the idea of sinking a well for water.

As we say here in Lancashire, "There's nowt as queer as folk" Looking at some of the comments on this forum, on this subject (and some others) its no wonder that wars are started over simple issues - quite easily.
How the hell did we get from discussing our water supply issues to having a pop at people who are trying to sort out the problem? Beats me. Come on folks stop stirring trouble and focus on the problem with proper solutions - you know who you are!

F.A.O. wrecker
When Polaris filled the lake and irrigated the newly planted trees I am fairly sure that they pulled so much water out of the ground many local people suffered with "pozos secos".
Water that should have been available for olive/almond etc trees (its not good for fruits - ptan's post on 22nd April "CDA Water Levels" is correct) was being wasted for "pretty" purposes!
In view of your point I will contact the relevant authority to make sure your situation is monitored and that this situation cannot happen again. Condado got away with it the first time - not again!
You are a "5 star" resort so obviously wealthy enough to pay for water for trivial uses - buy that desalinated rubbish then wait for it to become useable!!

I think you are talking about dry wells? I wasn't aware that CdA had caused this problem locally.
As for being 5*- we would have been had the resort been finished as planned and obviously the water issue would have been dealt with in those original plans but I think we've sort of been left high and dry. As for wealthy- don't make me laugh!! Same problems as everyone else.

Yes, I am talking about dry wells, or rather wells that dried up for that year only! I can not speak for the others but in my case I know the family who previously owned my land very well; they were mystfied when informed that "mi pozo estaba seco". They owned this land for many generations, through wet and dry periods and never had there been a time when there was no water.
Obviously you would not be aware of this as you live in a different Spain to me, no problem we get on with it...
What I do know is that my olive crop was reduced and the flavour of the oil was "average" (ie- supermarket quality).
I hope you sort your problems out in a sensible and fair way.

elardo, with the greatest respect, your English is very good have you done what the ownners on CDA have done and bought a property? In your case an olive plantation local to CdA?
Those of us who are owners on CdA bought in good faith expecting that all had been managed correctly- can't say any more. Those who sold the land are those you should be directing any grief to.
Another thread is suggesting ML have done us proud by sorting the problem of the water- I would say that its sorted for now (and as a result of Phil Tann) but who knows what the future holds if ML and the Presidents don't communicate properly (no critism to either side intended)

LOL....My English is average for an Englishman; I was here before Condado was started, so know a little about the planning etc!
And yes, I grow more than enough olives to book my own "press time", therefore I get "my own" oil, which I might say is very good, much better than you buy in supermarkets or "exchange" oil from the Almazara's - but then I'm biased........ My chickens also produce real "free-range" eggs; and in the future I hope to produce good quality pork and goat meat - this depends on the Paramount scenario, I do not wish to live next door to an amusement arcade!!!! Hence my comment in a previous post - "You live in a different Spain".
Polaris left you with a "can of worms", it will take a long time to sort it all out, even then some people will not be satisfied!!!
Because Polaris bought land with ground water rights you are entitled to use that water, but please do not pull out so much that other people suffer!!!!!
Seem to have wandered off topic a bit - but thats life...

Hey Elarado,
You will have to publicise where we can get our free range eggs & quality olive oil when we come visiting Condado - I am sure you would get good trade.
On the Paramount theme, I am sorry but I can't resist this........................................just think of all the business there for you as the chosen supplier for the barbecue ribs in the American themed section and goat curry in the West Indian quarter .
Regards,

Can't comment on the Mieniun / Presidents relationship but as far as we're concerned Mileniun have always been more than helpful and always informative with whats going on while we're back in sunny England. They are a million times better than the previous lot and i for one would not like to see them go . Phil and all the Presidents are doing a grand job and every time we visit Condado just gets better and better, and long may it continue !
P.s As for tittle tattle about what you can and cant do in your own home, if your not bothering anyone or spoiling anyones enjoyment who gives a sh*t , get a life guys and take a chill pill, isn't that the mentality what we try to leave back in England ?
