Building & Contents insurance

Good afternoon all

Just had my renewal notice through from Intasure for buildings & contents insurance and after a 10% increase in premium last year, they are now asking for another 15%

Enough is enough so I am shopping around

Am I right in thinking that buildings cover is provided by the community - if so, do we need to 'opt in' or are we automatically covered without asking ? Is the level of cover adequate - we visit 5-6 times per year so the apartment is empty the majority of the year (unfortunately), and we dont rent out ?

Any suggestions on good value contents providers ?

I took contents cover through Millenium for a 2 bed Jardine apt for 59 euro. Good value. I visit about same as you and also do not rent.

it's only good value if you don't claim.  Personally I would steer clear of Axa through Mileniun and get you own though a different agent.  Whist we are supposed to be covered though the community insurance I know of many that not are getting getting repairs done to a satisfractory level or nor at all. So I would get you own insurance elsewhere. I have.

 Beware!!! Mileniuns claimed Buidings cover is not enough, as it was proved by my Lenders Cam Bank. They are wrong to be telling anybody this false information.
